No its not safe! Period....they add a component to rubbing alcohol to make it unsafe for human consumption otherwise the winos would be in the local drugstores buying .99 cents bottles and drinking it.

Agreed. Purchase pure grain Alcohol for cleansing vape supplies :vapor:

This is actually quite true

Thanks for the backup. If you want to change flavors you're GOING to get some mixing. Those drip atomizers are disposable, they're not going to last forever. You're not going to soak them/etc and the gunk's going to go away or whatever. Gunk builds up on all coils. You have to burn it off. Start by debridging it.

In the case of Zoidman using vinegar I say gross. If you're using flammable wick in a CE just replace the wick, it's not that expensive. If you're using silica/ceramic then dry burn. The only use for PGA in vaping is to thin high ratios of VG, make flavor tinctures, or to get stinking drunk (never drink straight - you get ulcers).

You don't need that type of alcohol to clean attys.
Nor should you use it.

Everclear or Vodka if you MUST but it's not necessary.
Also DON'T dry burn attys!
Why people do this is beyond me, it kills your attys.

Just blow them out gently then low boil them for a few minutes then blow them out again and let them dry overnight.
I put mine in the sun all day.

Also, we ALL need at least 6 or so attys.
If you DIY ya need a dozen. :2c: :)

You are right, ISO alcohol doesn't leave a residue. Rubbing alcohol does, I believe, and should be avoided.

There is wide range of opinion on what method is best, which may be because people are talking about what works for their atomizers, and there are a lot of different atomizer configurations. It may be at bottom a coil wrapped up with a wick, but after that, there's materials differences, there's how they are stuffed into the heads, and so on.

A rinse in [some liquid] to wash off juice is a good start. For values of [some liquid] try something that makes the juice go away and doesn't leave a residue, and isn't problematic to pour down your drain. Hot water is generally a good choice here, but it takes longer than alcohol to dry without help. Same with vinegar. I haven't tried denture cleaners, but cannot think why that wouldn't work or be safe.

Baked-on gunk will not shift with hot water. To a degree, it will if soaked in alcohol or vinegar. If you are worried about it tasting funny after such a soaking, rinse with water afterward.

If you can easily see the coil, if it doesn't take tools to uncover the thing, you should be able to do dry burns without risk to your coil. Dry burning has the added advantage of drying your atty more quickly than it would just sitting on the counter. Watch the coil, fire a couple of seconds repeatedly, and when it starts glowing red you know you're pretty much there. Here is a good tutorial on dry burning: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

If you cannot tear down far enough into your atty to see the coil, dry burning will be riskier. You can still soak them and get at least some good from it; I have two eGo-c attys soaking in ISO alcohol for the last 48 hours. The colour of the alcohol has turned a rather attractive light tea. It works, but it takes time. Next step will be to rinse under hot tap water and let them sit on a shelf till I remember them again.

A damp wick and coil will not hurt you, even if it's wet with ISO alcohol (it won't be, not for more than a few seconds) or vinegar, but the first few puffs will taste weak or a bit strange. This too shall pass.

I did try vinegar twice. First and last time. LOL (I didn't get it rinsed out good enough). Have to admit that I just cleaned the atty from my little Itaste in Everclear. I can't tell any difference. NONE. Which reminds me I need to get a drip setup going. (Me thinks I got an Idea)

I use the Vinegar method. It seems to me that Alcohol works as a solvent for the 'gunk' but it's a slow process and what I would term a 'passive' process. The Vinegar is very acidic and so it 'actively' dissolves the gunk. A quick boil afterwards takes care of any aftertaste or sticky gunk left over. Works for me :)

There is nothing added to isopropyl alcohol sold in drugstores to make it unsafe for drinking. It is a synthetically produced alcohol that is unsafe to drink on it's own.
