I'm suspecting that failures are tied to auto firing situations. The iSticks seem to be prone to that. Mine has never auto fired, but it sometimes changes the wattage setting on its own. I've used a 20W istick so much that the silver case looks like an old Zippo lighter that's been carried in a pocket with change. Other than a switch that has to be pressed on center to fire reliably, it's been very reliable. My iStick 50W also changes its setting sometimes, but has a better switch with a stronger feel to the spring return.

If I let my battery get low and then charge, I can feel warmth after charging for a while. If I charge every day, it stays cool. I'm thinking that even though it can run much longer, I'm better off charging it daily so that it draws less current and stays cool during charging. That's common sense with all lithium batteries. At night I unscrew the atomizer on mine one turn past the point where it reads "no atomizer" just so I can sleep knowing it isn't going to fire repeatedly under load.

Some devices today come equipped with smarter charging circuits that are safe to use with higher amp USB chargers. I'm not sure what hardware and algorithms the iStick uses. Be safe. Stick to lower charging rates, charge more often, and check the case periodically for excessive warmth. Always charge when you are close by and check it frequently. Don't leave it plugged in when you are out of the house or asleep.

Theoretically, the USB standard should allow you to plug your ecig into any USB charger without damage. The device's resistance/reactance determines how much current is drawn from the charger. When the battery is dead, charging rates will be higher. When it's close to full charge, charging rates will fall. If the device design is faulty, then all bets are off. I"m not convinced that the iStick is as smart as it seems when controlling charging rates.

This article applies also to USB ecigs.

I'm not worried at all about my iSticks. I just keep them unplugged when I'm farther away than the next room and I charge them once a day to prevent heavy current flow while charging. No device that contains rechargeable batteries needs to be charged when you are asleep or away from home. It's just good sense to stay where you can monitor it.

Cell phones are another item that sometimes go ballistic while charging. After all, they have the same chemistry inside them that ecig mods contain. My LG G3 has a 3000mah l-ion flat pack battery inside and it charges from a USB port just like the iStick. There's virtually no difference other than the shape of the l-ion style battery.

This is exactly how I handle charging my 30w iStick; I got two of them, so I can use one while the other is charging, and never let them get lower than 2 of the "flashy squares" on the charging icon, because I also noted that the lower they go before charging, the warmer they get while charging.

I was taught here, over a year ago, to never charge while away or sleeping. The likelihood of disaster is slim, but the consequences of that sort of disaster are so dire, it's just not worth the risk.

I had mine 36 days. Never dropped it. Didn't drip or use any leaky tanks. I babied it . Still the fire button started sticking going to 10 every time. Then started automatically firing

There is clearly in issue with the iStick 50--it probably needs to be recalled. Contact your vendor and ask for a refund--iSmoka/Eleaf needs to be made aware of the problem..

This one was wonky but it's been working good for 2 weeks now. Bought in Feb from the first batch with my BLS unit.

They are well aware of the problems with the isticks and not just from me :)

I know--but the more people report and complain and demand refunds, the more likely the company will be to do something about it. They won't do much until they start losing money--or getting real bad publicity. Preferably both. ;)

Just my :2c:

Yes I got mine from a BM . Still have my receipt but because it was over 30 days (36) they wouldn't cover it and I don't blame them. It's not! their place to but Eleaf should

Why is it that most things fall apart a day or two after their warranty expires? ;)

Don't answer that... I know.

Copied from another istick 50w thread
I got the following reply from iSmoka today...

"Dear friend,
Thanks for your email and sorry for the delay in replying.
It's really regretful that we offer 90-day warranty for our products and the warranty of yours has run out.
Sorry again for the inconvenience.
Have a nice day.
Best wishes!"

It was 3 months and 7 days old when it quit working.
iSmoka's warranty is 90 days on isticks
