LOL I think if you had one that auto fired, you would detect the heat of the atty building up long before a meltdown. If it were to happen, just unscrew the atty.

The problem seems to be that they autofire in pockets and when being charged. I remove my tank while charging and use it on another device. At night before I turn in, I unscrew the tank several turns and do a fire check for "no atomizer" before leaving it on the counter.
I haven't heard of a pocket auto fire and they are not imited to doin this while charging. My 50w, the original "BLS" coined by Cheech, started auto firing one day sitting on a coffee table without the charger. It continued until I removed the atty. Then it kept going thru the 10 second firing sequence and it would not turn off. It continued for 2 or 3 days while being sent to FL for replacement. It was disassembled in FL and was finally stopped. A charger can not cause auto fire.
My 50w. (one of them)
I agree, that's why I've posted in a hundred places to remove your atty when not attending the 50 at any time as a safety precaution. Most issues I believe are mechanical related but there are some logic related ,,,,One of my 30w here(40w?)I wouldn't expect a charger to be the problem. It's just that the stories of those who had problems include issues while charging, not charging, and apparent button presses while being pocket carried. Sometimes, I'll pull mine out of a jeans pocket and notice that the wattage has changed, or it's changed from voltage to wattage mode.
The autofire problem appears to be switch related and the foam misalignment may be the issue. It appears on the surface to be a mechanical issue rather than a logic issue, but who knows. We just want to feel safe carrying and using the iStick.
If it does it simply unscrew the atty. Even if it keeps tryin to fire (which it probably will) it can do no harm at that point. Their are many minor issues with some 50's but the auto fire units appear to be few and far between.Just what we need, something else to worry about.
So if any of my devices were to do something like this, what's the best thing to do, throw it in the toilet? wrap a towel around it and get it outside? Is there a risk of it actually exploding, or would it more than likely just get hot and maybe burst into flames?
I'm not going to worry too much about this, but I wouldn't mind having some sort of course of action in mind, and I definitely don't want to do something that might make the situation worse....
...I'm picturing Wile E. Coyote trying to extinguish dynamite in a barrel of gasoline![]()
That makes sense, but I was really thinking more of an dangerously over charged/venting battery situation. If it does it simply unscrew the atty. Even if it keeps tryin to fire (which it probably will) it can do no harm at that point. Their are many minor issues with some 50's but the auto fire units appear to be few and far between.
I've read many threads and forums and haven't found a 50 that I think overcharged and vented. That makes sense, but I was really thinking more of an dangerously over charged/venting battery situation.
I'll bet there's all kinds of infomation on that somewhere in this forum. Guess I'll take a look around and see.
Dig it out and I'll give you 15 bucks for it. I need one for a build.Walked in on mine autofiring while charging in the next room, yanked off the tank and threw it in the sink. Luckily it was just really hot, and did no damage. Istick in the trash and bought an SX mini M off someone from the forum.
