Firstly welcome to the forum ! You'll find a huge amount of info on here in the forums. It's great to hear your ready to stop smoking, as the hardest part is making that decision. Good on you ! Are you looking for something to take out and about with you or for home use ?

i hear the ego twist style starter kits are good. When I started vaping I first used the cigg lookalike ones from the local garage, and then purchased a innokin I taste vv which I still use.

Good luck !

There's a ton of help here, but a few more details would help us point you in the right direction. Tell us:

What type of setup are you looking for? Are you looking for something smaller, or is that not really an issue? Would you like to be able to charge it on the go, or would a replaceable battery be better (with a larger capacity)?

Also, what types of flavors do you prefer? Getting a good juice that you're happy with will help a lot.

One bit of advice though: I wouldn't recommend anything from a gas station.

Hi. I started with a small one that a friend gave me. It was from Vapers Corner. Then I got a big tank from the same company. The atomizer had to be replaced couple times a month. Then I found a starter kit through White Rhino. This one worked a little different. But today I switched tanks to an Ecto T8 tank. These things are saving me my health and money. Plus it smells so much better in the apartment and car. And my taste buds have kicked back in. Everything tastes so delicious and alive now :)

As for size, it really isn't an issue for me so I'm sure my options there are vast. I think I'd probably start with a replaceable battery at first as well.

Flavor wise, I'm up for trying anything! I was told about a peanut butter & jelly flavor that is supposed to be very good and I'd definitely want to give that a shot.

I started two weeks ago with an eGo style Vapage UTURN 1300, which is another twist clone and it has worked for me. I had one day on the last of the analogs I had left and a cigalike, it was not fun. The cigalike was not nearly strong enough to compensate for the analogs I used to smoke. I ended up with some 36mg juice, and I would spend less time vaping than I did smoking. I also have not touched an analog since March 6th now. Whatever you do, make sure your battery is charged! :)

Thanks for the welcome! I'd be looking for a combination of home/out and about. Although I suppose I could go back and forth. The amount of money I will be saving by making this switch will be absolutely insane.

LOL! not if you are anything like me and uhhhh....about 100K others here.:D

When I started out I toyed around with the little cigarette look-alikes, like the NJOY and the Blu e cigarette. However those didn't have the taste, nor vapor cloud I wanted, so here's the set up I bought (which I'm still rocking strong).
Vision Spinner Variable Voltage 1300mAh, cost me around $25.
Kanger Mini Protank 2, cost around $15
Charger cost me around $6 for the battery, it can plug into any USB wall outlet, takes 6ish hours to charge.
Replacement coils for the Mini Protank 2 cost around $1.75 a piece, and I order at 10 a time. For me, I go through a coil in maybe 2 weeks.

True. And I'm sure there are some super fancy bits 'n pieces out there, but at least you're not spending money slowly destroying your body ;)

I think my best bet would be to look for a starter kit of some kind. Any specific companies/brands/websites I should be looking out for?

Edit - Just saw your link. That is exactly what I'm looking for to start with!

Do you have a vape store in your area? I got my start with an ego style kit. 2 batteries, 2 toppers, charger and bought some liquid. It worked well enough to get me off of the cigs in just a few days. (Everyone is different though so do this at YOUR pace.) The price you will pay at the store will be more than what you would pay for it online. However, for someone just starting, that price difference is well worth the (hopeful) knowledge and experience of the person selling you their product.

Welcome to the Forum. Glad to have ya!

This is my vaping "commandments" I give to all my friends. I hope it helps. I learned the hard way.

1. Think of vaping like a NRT. Vaping takes the edge off, but there will be a withdrawal from the other chemicals.

2. Give yourself time to get off of analogs (step down method) if you’re having problems.

3. "Smoking" an e-cig is different than a cigarette. The drag is long and slow. Many people retrohale through the nose instead of taking it into the lungs.

4. Vaping dries the mouth out. Drink lots of water. A sore throat is common for the first two weeks.

5. Ask/Search for advice on the forum if you’re not sure about something.

6. Once you buy your starter kit, don't buy any new equipment for the first month. You'll find yourself chasing hardware, especially if you read this forum consistently.

7. If you quit cold turkey with vaping, don't let monthly vaping budget exceed your total savings from cigarettes. Spending money on vape gears can get out of control very quickly.

8. Don't buy more than one kind of tank until you've used it for a month. In a few months, something new will come out and those tanks of yesterday will start collecting dust.

9. Don't buy full size bottles of an ejuice your not familiar with, because it may end-up in the trash. You can always order more later. Buy the smallest size instead.

10. Don't buy multiple bottles of your "current" favorite ejuice at first. Your taste will change as your sense of smell comes back, plus you might get sick of the ejuice before you finish all those bottles.

11. When buying tanks, consider the cost the heads and how long they last. Heads and ejuice will be a re-occurring cost if you don't rebuild them or they can't be rebuilt.

12. Just because something looks nice, doesn't mean it vapes nice. Always look at the pros and cons of hardware - there will always be negative things.

13. Shop around. Prices vary a lot in this industry.

14. Know your vendors. In the past, there have been some scams. Start collecting vendors when you come across them in the forum.

15. If your upgrading from an ego-style setup, really-really-really-really do your research. This is where you can waste a ton of money.

16. There are many elements to vaping. Don't let all the terminology and hardware overwhelm you. Enjoy the journey – there is no rush to learn everything overnight.

These are the tanks I have used in proper order of use. VCT Starter Kit - Pink, Color Wick Tanks : Buy Clearomizer and now I am using the ecto t8 1100 tank. I am loving this one even more than the others. ECTO World Vaporizers and American Made E-Liquid - 1-855-572-2066. I just buy the tanks because they are interchangeable with my original battery from Vapers Corner. I'm still learning about how to maintain the new T8 tank since the box didn't come with much of a users manual.

Congrats on saying gbye to cigs,.

I started out with the available cigalike disposables that were available at spots in my area; that means as a last resort backup I can always go get one of those instead of a pack of cigs.

Try to get a miniprotank2 - it's your basic workhorse of tanks..

And excercise caution with lithium battery; they pack alot of energy.
