no way Paul. basic feeding doesnt work exactly like mouthpiece. If you open a lot the mouthpiece then you go very close to the top of the wick. Basic feeding is too low, so it feeds without flooding. Of course its not made for crazy vapers like me for example. But it helps a lot vapers like me because I dont open too much the mouthpiece so I never have overflooding effect. Also the basic feeding part can go up and down, so you can put the wick very close to the base of the mouthpiece or very far from it. That has an impact to hot or cool smoke and also an impact to how much you have to open the mouthpiece every time. For example, if the basic feeding part is high then you have to open only a little the mouthpiece to feed the wick because wick is very close to the base of mouthpiece
