Hi guys! It will be two weeks tomorrow! I haven't really noticed a increase in lung power... It is true I am not doing that morning hack anymore. That is cool! I did buy a 650mh batt for errands and trips and I also recently ordered another 1000mh batt. So far so good. And let me tell you guys something... and this is so true: If I can do it you can do it. I never ever ever thought I would kick it... but I'm not painting myself into a corner either. One day at at time.

AWESOME!!:toast:

Wow, some great stories! It is pretty amazing to think you can put the cigarettes away. I have some in a small vase on a top shelf I keep smiling at sometimes when I walk by! Actually an evil grin. Ha. They're beat, they're also as dry as chaf.
I smoked heavy for 44 years. I did smoke one, or tried to, the first day, after I had to put my battery in the charger. It was awful, so bad I had to go wash my hair!
After that I got a few more batteries. And a few of everything else, but it was worth it!
Best of luck to all!

Finewest,

I am on day 15 analog free- but vaping like a maniac, but it is better than an analog, I went to see my doctor last Friday and since I started vaping (Late August, last analog Sept 22) my oxygen saturation level went from 90% to 95%...now that to me is a HUGE thing. I never had a "smokers hack" but when I stopped the analogs I coughed like crazy for several days but that stopped too. What really helped was finding some ejuice flavors I love! I do get an analog panic once in a while but I realized I was craving the menthol from the analog-not the analog itself. A couple of drops of menthol killed the urge to grab my keys and head to the nearest 7-11.

You are doing great! You will see very soon when a smoker walks by you how bad it smells or at a traffic light and someone in another car is smoking how bad it smells...that to me was the sure signal that I was done with analogs. I also had to change my toothbrush too!

I am so glad my friend told me about this site. Everyone here is great and has tons of information on vaping, liquids and hardware. So I want to thank all of you who are always ready to answer the newbie's questions and offer so much support!

You go Finewest! GOOD FOR YOU!!!

I can't put in words how much you guys have helped me and obviously each other! One of the best online communities I have ever seen! GOOD FOR US!!!

Thank you for all your kind comments and GREAT stories! I am also going through the same "learning curve" you new vapies are. Such as; MY TEETH ARE WHITER! Now that was a complete surprise! I had pretty much resigned myself through the years that I would have to battle and put up with yellowing teeth from smoking for the rest of my life! Then! Vape! That one bonus has really help me to realize that I need to continue on this path of smoke free lifestyle! Of course the smells are gone! The wife and cats are happier! I can vape inside! OTG!

When I started this a couple of weeks ago I thought I would pretty much still use analogs, but hoping it would just cut them back some... BUT! WOW! I have not wanted a single one since! You would have to get inside my head somehow and feel what I am feeling that I thought pretty much I was dead... going to die from smoking someday... and now this may even overflow to other areas of lifestyle habits that need to be addressed. If I can quit smoking analogs then maybe I can start working on other things too!

It is amazing... It is soooooo true! I hate cliches as much at the next guy, maybe even more! How can you put such complex feelings in a bumper sticker? But! IF I CAN DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT! And I have one of the worst addictive personalities around! LOL! Luckily I am able to recognize it and I am able to rationally keep it in check. Good skill if you can developed it... not easy! LOL.

Good luck and keep the stories and support coming and going! LOVE YOU GUYS!

Krisb and Finewest...GOOD FOR YOU!!!
I did the analog and vape for a couple of weeks and then decided that I no longer like the taste of the analog and that was it...I was done. I may vape for the rest of my life but there are so many benefits compared to the analog so I'm not that concerned. Keep up the great work.
It is day 15 for me and I haven't looked back.

Attypops...

being such a newbie to this site I am going to ask a very stupid question, how do I go about finding the post in the health section? I think I need to spend some more time lurking to see how things work and how to get to different areas and posts. Any help you could give me, or anyone else for that matter, would be gratefully appreciated!

OK, one possible mega link below. Move up for more.... Disclaimer: I can't give you medical advice.

But 1st... remember that everyone goes through this differently... many with no issues whatsoever. Also, you're giving up 4000+ chemicals.... Some have effects...like anti-depressants/MAOI. For me, I was a little depressed for a couple of weeks, but it passed.

Anyway, I didn't mean to scare you. Just note that for many, nicotine is not the only issue.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...hen-quitting-tobacco-changing-ecigarette.html

Also note the "my garage door quit working once I started vaping" effect in other threads. lol. We tend to associate EVERYTHING that happens in the world to our quitting smoking/vaping. The point is, even with acne breakouts, it's worth quitting!!!!!!!!!! LOL. :) Good luck. Just want you to be optimistic and informed.

Attypops...

Are you kidding me? They put anti-depressants in analogs? I had no idea that was in there. I hope I don't get acne, I never had it in my life so I hope it doesn't happen now!

Thank you for all your help to the lost and confused newbie...LOL! I am grateful to you for the info and links. I am at day 15 analog free and just the thought of the taste of an analog is almost nauseating to me. I smoked menthol cigs so I had a double addiction so when I am craving an analog it is really the menthol I want so badly. I solved that by adding a few drops of menthol e-juice to my carto and I was not ready to run out the door and head for the nearest 7-11 for a pack of analogs. This sure is a learning process and I know now I have a whole LOT to learn.

Great job for everyone on this thread for being analog free!

I can tell you I am certain e-cigs are better for me than analogs. I went to the doctor last Friday and my oxygen saturation level went from 90% to 95%. That sealed it for me for not going back to analogs. I just have to make sure I have plenty of e-juice and extra parts for my Tornado and I may remain a vaper for life. I may never quit, but at least I am doing something that is not nearly as deadly as analogs.

Just make sure you have a few good batterys (preferable 650mah or greater) and keep rotating their charge, bring two with you when you go out (or 4 -or a pcc if less than 650 mah) and IF YOU HAPPEN TO slip and smoke, just remember it's not the end of the world - you'll just start where you left off when you get back home again.

Good Luck!

Just a note - Cignot has started selling PCCs for the eGos and their clones to charge to at least the 1000 mAh versions. I just got one last week although I haven't had chance to try it yet. Considering how popular the eGos, Rivas, Tornegos, vGos, etc., are, this is a great step forward for keeping them charged for longer trips/overnights!

Joye PCC for eGos

I'm the exact same way: I've quit so many times and ALWAYS about 6 months in I've 'tried' a cigarette ONE TIME and ended up just smoking full-time again. This is the only time I've been able to smoke for a couple of days and then stop like it was no big deal without any cravings at all - and without any desire to continue smoking whatsoever. In fact, smoking wasn't all the great when I was doing it - I would have preferred that my batteries were nice and charged up so I could vape.

For the first time ever smoking was my back-up plan, not my first choice.

IF you have a good PV (at least 650mah) with 2 batts and access to an electrical outlet you should be fine - but, like I said, even if you do smoke *which btw will probably give you a headache immediately* you'll be able to go back to vaping easily (assuming you are using a good PV and good juice in the right mg nic.).

BTW: what are you using? how high the mg nic?

I'm using a MV902, however, I just ordered a LUX with the big batts. I've been using 12mg nic, but sometimes I just vape 0 choc mint. It really just depends on what I have on me at the time. I really think I'm addicted to the "act" of smoking rather than anything else. Well, except perhaps the other 4000+ chemicals. I've found myself feeling a little depressed and emotional lately...more so than usual. That is about the only withdrawal/side effect I've had. No hacking cough, no excessive mucous, no quit zits...nothing but the blues.

I'm still rather freaked out that I haven't had an analog and it's been almost 2 weeks. When will this newness wear off?

Tee6395,

I stopped analogs 9/21/10 so I guess about 3 weeks ago. I still feel like a newbie but there is so much information on this site I am more comfortable with vaping now. I printed off some stuff to give to a couple of my doctors I saw 10 days ago and they were very impressed with the e-cig. They were going to print off some copies for their other smoking patients. What sealed if for me as far as analogs go was my oxygen saturation level went from 90% to 95% in just under 2 months, and I had only been vaping for about 10 days at that point.

I am using a Tornado with a 650 battery and e-juice with 24mg/ml. I don't have any "cravings" for an analog, in fact the thought of the taste makes me nauseous. I always smoked menthol because I didn't like the taste of tobacco. I was at one point a pack and a half per day smoker. With cigs running $7.85 per pack here I was forced to ration them to 10 per day. I did the vape and analog for a couple of weeks and found some flavors of e-juice I love in the nic level I need and quit the analogs. I have been a vaping maniac since then but that is also slowing down as my body adjusts. I never had a "smokers cough" even after I quit the analogs, I did cough for less than a week but that was my lungs getting rid of some junk. Now I don't cough, didn't get zits, have enough nicotine to keep me vaping and I am much happier. Best of all I do not smell like an ashtray anymore. I had to throw out my toothbrush though and get a new one because it tasted like a cig...YUCK!

So hang in there. This is such new technology and more and more people are turning to vaping everyday, soon you will feel like a veteran. I too am more addicted to the act of smoking as the patch, the gum, the lozenges and even Chantix didn't keep me from wanting to smoke, until now. I am happy to be analog free. You should be proud of yourself if you can vape with 0 nicotine. I know I am not even close to that. I may vape for the rest of my life but it sure beats analogs all the way around. Especially once you have the initial cost of the e-cig, the "e-juice" is pretty inexpensive in comparison.

You'll make it and be healthier for sure. Best of luck and Happy Vaping!

Thanks Kelly. It is becoming second nature but I still feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. What I'm most worried about is wanting an analog, say, a year down the road. I think I can keep this up without too many problems. I'm still very nervous about going to Vegas in just over 50 days. I'm hoping by then I will have built up my confidence and can make it through the trip without turning to analogs.

I appreciate your encouragement. Happy vaping to you.

Tee6395,
In 50 days you won't even be thinking about an analog. Is your using the e-cig as a way to quit smoking? If so I wouldn't try and do that until after your trip to Vegas. I know that gambling, drinking and smoking all go together in a almost seamless fashion but you'll make it. Just don't start putting so much pressure on yourself when it still nearly 2 months away. Do the people smoke who are going with you to Vegas? If they do maybe you can turn one or more of them onto the e-cigs and you can all be gambling, drinking and vaping together. One of my oldest and dearest friends and I are doing this together and it really helps to have someone who knows exactly how you are feeling and what you are going through...that is also what is so great about this board. Everyone here is right where you are now or has been there and knows what you are going through. Maybe not specifically but basically for sure. I have found the veterans and even newbies like me are more than willing to offer support and help, all you have to do is ask. I am so grateful my friend found this board and told me about it, so now we still have each other but another huge support system full of valuable information and advice. We are basically all here for the same reasons, support, help with all the different technology and models, the best place to buy stuff, who has the best e-juice (I personally love Velvet Vapors but everyone else has their own favorites. ) I found a couple of flavors I really love and I have no intention of going back to an analog. I am addicted to the act of smoking as much as the nicotine. Make sure you have the right level for you as far as the strength of nic in your e-juice and flavors you look forward to using, I can almost promise you won't be thinking of analogs until maybe you get on the plane. If you smoke don't beat yourself up about it just go back to vaping when you get back. I will now step off my soap box...LOL!!

I will probably vape for life but it is a whole lot better for me than analogs and tons cheaper as well!

So hang in there you have lots of support here. There are also groups you can join that are in your area too, so you can actually meet and hang out with some new friends who ALL vape...now how cool is that? I feel liberated because I am no longer a pariah because I smoke. That is a good thing in my book.
