Noob, newb, n00b, no distinction... if people need a serious term referring to a new guy/gal dropping in and being mistar/misus know it all and rude/trollish or the like... "jackass" covers that a bit better.

Noob in itself is derogatory in it's root in the first place, since the initial intent was to make fun of someone for being new. Now it keeps finding new branches to hang out on apparently.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-o

THAT'S the problem!!!! Let's call new people, "New People"! There will be a WHOLE lot less confusion (and therefore heartbreak).

Wait a minute oh dogfaced, half-tongued one.
Are they then new at being people?
How about some another nickname that has 4 or less letters and looks like 2 eyeballs between n and b?
I can't think of one but maybe from your location you can. :D

n**b maybe... has some form of potential, but the meaning would be lost somewhere.

Neeb.. too many things wrong with this, primarily the two "e"'s.

n@@b?

i like the word "Nub" its a sub noob word meaning your not even qualified to be a full out noob and your demoted to a nub. A baby or unexperience noob. aka a person or player so bad noob to too good for them.

Actually a nub is a person that has been doing something for a while but is still clueless as a newb. In a sentence... That guy has over 8,000 games in and still sucks, what a freakin nub.

Didn't noob come from l33k sp34k?

n00b (with zeros)?

I dunno, I wasn't even born in the 80's!

Mike is right on that one. Newbie is the nicer way in most gaming circles, noob is leet speak, and my fav is nub, were in most places they don't remember it, but it was one of the more offensive ones when I started gaming.
