Oh yeah....after 45 years she knows me all too well:facepalm:

I tried looking for a flashlight that took that size batt but find couldn't one so if you know of one let me know. She'll never figure out the gripper thing because it sits in a large coffee can filled with other black PVC elbows and extension fittings. A small flashlight would be perfect.....marriage.

Even better!

No no, Jack, you obviously care about others and have a good heart! That my friend is to be commended this day and age. :)

Good call on the puff it thingy. I figure if you are only sneaking it when she is not around that's not so bad.

That Lacewood is spectacular Papa, all very nice! I'm still waiting, stalking, waiting, I think my local customs just got interested in Woodvils, looking for hidden contraband, explosives, the usual...

Yes, the lacewood has depth and detail that pictures just don't do justice. The top and bottom are striped - it's just an amazing piece of functional art.

Is getting wood products into OZ ever a problem? I have some friends with whom I did the Inca Trail in Peru with and they said they daren't take their walking sticks back with them as they'd be confiscated. Some NZ friends I know have claimed the same thing - wood is a no no to get through customs. Perhaps the woodies are exempt because they're finished as opposed to raw? I know that's the case with Canada.

I've been using my stock woody tonight, built a 10 wrap .055" 26 gauge came in at .8 ohm.

did a few voltage drop tests and yeah the spring pretty much sucks for sub ohm, but take that out of the equation and damn this thing is really hitting pretty good. damn good actually. I'm getting a total voltage drop of .14v when I bypass the spring, with the spring in the circuit it jumps up to a .3v drop, more than double.

rob, I've got a really stupid question for you, where did the 3 amp and 5 amp ratings for these switches originally come from? we've all seen them thrown around here for so long that this has become an accepted fact that no one questions but I really don't believe it. I think this thing is way more capable than that. maybe they are switches rated at 3 amps and 5 amps, but at 12 volts? a switch rated at 12v will handle ~ 3 times that amperage at 4v. if these are 12v rated then the woody fire switch is really a 15 amp switch at 4v. the on/off switch rating is really not that critical because it is not being switched under power, so it's almost a non issue aside from what little resistance it adds. I need to do more tests at higher load but this thing is sub ohming like a boss once the spring is dealt with. next chance I get I'll drop down to 24 gauge and 22 gauge and see what she does in deep sub ohm but so far, aside from the spring this ain't no wimpy mod :)
