I've always been curious, what does "nebula" mean?

A nebula (from Latin: "cloud";[1] pl. nebulae or nebulæ, with ligature, or nebulas) is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases.

Here's a photo of one:

I've been using my stock woody tonight, built a 10 wrap .055" 26 gauge came in at .8 ohm.

did a few voltage drop tests and yeah the spring pretty much sucks for sub ohm, but take that out of the equation and damn this thing is really hitting pretty good. damn good actually. I'm getting a total voltage drop of .14v when I bypass the spring, with the spring in the circuit it jumps up to a .3v drop, more than double.

rob, I've got a really stupid question for you, where did the 3 amp and 5 amp ratings for these switches originally come from? we've all seen them thrown around here for so long that this has become an accepted fact that no one questions but I really don't believe it. I think this thing is way more capable than that. maybe they are switches rated at 3 amps and 5 amps, but at 12 volts? a switch rated at 12v will handle ~ 3 times that amperage at 4v. if these are 12v rated then the woody fire switch is really a 15 amp switch at 4v. the on/off switch rating is really not that critical because it is not being switched under power, so it's almost a non issue aside from what little resistance it adds. I need to do more tests at higher load but this thing is sub ohming like a boss once the spring is dealt with. next chance I get I'll drop down to 24 gauge and 22 gauge and see what she does in deep sub ohm but so far, aside from the spring this ain't no wimpy mod :)
I think the push button is closer to a 10 amp depending on what manufacture you buy them from . I would rather shoot low then deal with angry people going through push buttons . The good news is the sub ohm springs will work with the woodvils

How cool would it be if Rob had actually been making 300 mechanical woodys at the same time he made this last run of Woodys? He starts a new thread called "Mechanical Woodvils on sale 4/1" I would go nuts.
I wish I had 300 more wood mods . I am beat from the last run I cant imagine building 600 wood mods at once

are those ratings at 12v? can't imagine them to be rating them at 4.2v.
Yes I think they are the push button is a cheap button but a very reliable button . I tried a higher end button with the vv woodvils and ran into all kinds of problems . This will be the last time I use the old style button on these mods with all the sub ohm cats we have now

I have been totally breaking my "no woods leaving the house" rule. I need to run through a few metals and nolax, wash, etc...and I just can't put the wood down.

Ok, that's a lie. Two of the six metals need a little tune up, I just need an excuse.

This was going to be my rule too, but I have changed my mind. I'm a quite OCD with wanting to keep my stuff like "new". This means anything I own, from vape gear, electronics, to my car. I've decided that my woodvils are going to be used to break that cycle. I'm not going to beat on them unnecessarily, but they are going to be used, and used well. Besides, I want to take them out and show off this amazing craftsmanship to everyone! :D

Wonder if it will have the top button like metals? I like the side button on the woodies!

The side would be cool for holding it, but if you think about how the mechanical Reos work, the top button allows for it to be all mechanical. A button on the side wouldn't be on the same plane as the top of the battery (you push the top button and it lowers the small arm with the metal contact onto the top of the battery). I can't visualize any way to make it with a side button that would be all mechanical.

a mech doesn't have to make and break on the battery itself, there's no reason why the battery positive couldn't be connected to a terminal that's connected to a bar that extends to where the switch is, although making and breaking at the battery itself may simplify the design. realistically the current woody could be converted to a true mech as-is even, side button and all, but it would be a much more complicated layout for sure.

my guess is rob's going to use the same firing parts as the new reo grands upgraded contacts, then all he has to do is extend one "lead" or "bar" to stay 100% mech, from the battery ground to the atty ground and it would otherwise function just like a metal reo. of course that's just a guess but I think this would probably make the most sense for him :) it's funny though, the original wood influenced the design of the metal mod, and then the metal mod influences the design of the new revised wood mod :) of course I could be wrong but I wouldn't bet on that ;)

EDIT: ah, rob beat me to it and maybe I am wrong :p
