Ahh, I stand corrected. Guess you have figured out that I'm not an engineer. I love the side button on the woods too. No one asked, but I'm voting for the side button on the mechanical woods. Thank you.I can- a Fulcrum!
Button on the side pushes sideways on a plate that is attached on an angle to the firing pin- pushing it down onto the battery

I was leery at first about taking my woods outside the house, but discovered that they hold up really well. I do take at least one metal Reo with me for fairly primitive camping and the like, but woods at still in attendance there. I do it because I absolutely love the feel of them in my hand and also to show them off. I don't think I ever leave home without one. With 7 Woodvils and 2 metal Reos (soon to be 3 with purchase of metal 18490, I hope), I have to listen to all of them clamor to go out when I do. They're a rowdy group.
I have made mechanical switches on the side of a wood mod . I am still up in the air on witch option I want to use . I no many love the side button on the wood mods
FWIW, I am completely in love with the side button. If you were to take a poll, my vote would be for side. However, whatever causes YOU the least amount of hassle trumps personal preference.![]()

I'm good either way with the button, so long as I get one on sale night.

Got my Molehill Mountain Art Purpleheart/Maple tip in, and thought I'd show it off inside and out. Depending how you hold it and the angle the light hits it, it's either really light, or it's really dark, to match the Woodvil exactly!
For some reason, the camera is having a hard time focusing on the tip becaue of the lines.
The side button could actually be the simplest setup. No battery arcing could be a good thing. Some good metal on metal contact of the same metal could drastically reduce oxidation.
Maybe later I can draw I pic but in the end it's irrelavent as I'm sure Rob has ideas and we all know he can make it work.I don't know what he just said, but.....yeah, what he said!

Agree, don't even own any metal REOs anymore ....... just 4 woodvils and they do everything with me
I think they take a beating better than the metal ones do ......
My metal ones looked beat up after just a few months of normal (for me) use ...... But my Cocobolo woodvil that has been used out and about the most still looks brand new .... not a nick or scratch on it. Someone show me a metal REO thats been used hard for two years that doesn't have a scratch![]()
