How about a lockable sliding door which can be shifted with one thumb.

A solid door with no squonk hole or plunger. Just slide up to squonk. If that is what you mean then i like the idea. But i don't know if having the hole is a safety feature.

i doubt sliding a door would work for me. i'm an instant gratification kind of a guy.

It would look great with no hole, all that wood. I think I'd get used to sliding it quickly, but wonder if all the extra sliding would wear wood to quickly in the dovetail? Been trying in Grand and with the metal door it works great.
