I am not ready to get into the whole "having to watch your battery all the time etc etc" Mechanical I guess is what they call it.

Technically a Woodvil is not mechanical as it has switches and wires but also is not regulated with a chip like a VV. The low battery is not really an issue. I and many here were worried about it as well but it turns out to be a non issue really. An 18650 battery specs say they can go down to 2.5v, most regulated device cut off at 3.2 volts.

With a non regulated device like a Reo Grand or Reo Woodvil you start to notice a drop off in performance as the voltage drops below 3.7. The flavor, heat and amount of vapor all drop as voltage goes lower than 3.7. I typically change batteries between 3.65 and 3.7 volts and the lowest I've ever gone is 3.5. well above where a regulated device cuts off.

There are more woodvils
I had some problems with the polyurethane for some reason bad batch or the finish gods are mad at me for waiting so long to build more wood mods .
I ended up stripping a bunch of them that just didn't cut it for me . This was just a taste of the woodvils more to come shortly . There is no set date and never was on these wood mods . When I am confident on a date I will post the date here and on my website

Thanks and its no rush, take your time.
Do you think they will be done in February though, just wondering.

yes definitely unless I get run over by a truck or I win the lottery

Lol if you win the lottery you could make even more woodvils than ever before.

Also just curious, is the tung oil the most durable or are all the finishes equally durable?
I live in Ohio so whatever is best for my climate lol.

Thanks for the clarification, still a bit new to vaping so I was not sure. Too bad there will not be any. BTW that is a gorgeous Shep you have.

Thank You for that! He is more beautiful inside than he is outside!

Great! So now we have to root for Rob to not get hit by a truck (which we already root for) and not win the lottery!

I live in Ohio. Down towards Cincinnati. I have lots of wood REO's. The Cocobolo and Ebony will swell some with the humidity. I have noticed the doors get hard to move. The woods with the poly coat seem to be affected less by moisture changes.

My wood REO's are all different runs. Some were made in 2010, some in 2011, and some in 2012. Most were from previous owners and some were used a lot before I got them. So I have seen both the poly and the tung oil finish after use and time.

The tung oil does not give the high gloss shine that you get with the poly. I use Howard's Feed and Wax with UV protection on all my wood REO's. It is called SunShield. The tung oil finish will get more of a shine with the wax. The poly coat keeps the shine with the wax.

Durability is not only the finish but the wood itself. If you are wanting a wood REO that is very durable then stick with the harder woods that can handle more abuse. Check out this site for great information:

I got THIS vape mail in today. Not the new Nebula but a nebulizer. :glare: I made it every clear to DW and will to the doctor when I see him next week I be trying it out no matter what! ;)

Make sure you get the right PG to Saline ratio; the TH on those things are pathetic. Right now I'm enjoying my Sour-Applebuterol flavored nebuliquid ;)

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate it!
I'm mainly concerned about the climate affecting the wood so I want to get the most durable for this climate.
Which woods do you suggest are best for Ohio?
Maybe if I keep them inside I won't have to worry about any lol.

Ah...someone who can relate. I won't know the medicine I'll be using till I see the doctor but now I have been taking Theophylline. I am glad you haven't had to quit vaping. Im guessing asthma and not bronchitis like me.

EDIT: lol

You were joking. I read your post too fast and thought it said albuterol.:oops::blush:

Even keeping my Ebony and Cocobolo inside they still will swell in high humidity.

I don't seem to have that problem with the other woods.

For durability Oak and Walnut are very good. Most of the regular woods are fine for everyday use and taking out. The more exotic woods might be more prone to damage if dropped multiple times.

It is a good idea to do a little research to help with your decision.

Right, I wouldn't wan't to. So I will just be patient and hope I can snag one when Robert puts some up for sale. I can see from reading they sell out quickly :)

Well I guess you could if you used a 510 adapter to raise the connector high enough above the brass well but why would you want to. lol
