As mwdenko said we aren't moving huge amounts of data so speed doesn't matter as much. you do have a faster ping time, the time it takes for a signal go out to the test server and return.
Seriously all of these tests mean nothing since we are not testing against the host that Rob's site is on. I could be slower than you in getting to his site depending on where it is.
I've heard on wall street more trades are decided by computers than by man. Its a race for getting super computers near the trade floor with the fastest speed where millionths of seconds can mean millions of dollars. Crazy stuff.
I actually deal with customers who buy those types of low latency systems and run them in grids of thousands of servers, nano seconds matter and if you shave several nano seconds off what they currently run
Time magazine just had an interesting article on quantum computers. Its very weird stuff where ones and zeros can each be in two places at once at different times. Way above this pea brain but interesting. Supposedly they'll be able to do computations in seconds that would take traditional computers hundreds of years to do. Lots of money being thrown at the whole concept..governmental and private. I think Dennis needs one of those if he going to create a monopoly on Wood Reos.
