Such a sweet offer, thank you Sennie.

I think I am good now, or at least it is much better! I did already order some, which is fine, I can use them when I am feeling extra lazy :)

I can make and send you some if you'd like instead of paying for them. Just PM you addy.

Set my woodvil down long enough to snap a couple quick pics. What a beautiful piece it is! This will most definitely not be my last! I will be stalking for the next announced run. Bring on the mechanicals!

Love the look and feel of the ebony.

lol I hear us. A good coil should last for quite some time, hubs keeps his longer than I do, around 2 months, I only keep a coil a few weeks. Sure lasts a check of a lot longer than my carto' s did which last 2 days if I had good luck, 2 hours if it was bad, or worse. I'm happy now!! :D

Sounds like I better read the last few pages of this thread. I built a new coil yesterday and it's already ugly, gunky, and burned looking.

These woods seem to hit a little stronger. I went most of the day cautious but satisfied at 1.6 ohm on one and 1.7 on the other. I just made a new 1.2 (twisted 32GA) and it hits harder than 1.2 would make me think.

once you clean the contacts the biggest limitation is the spring. the wiring is a little light, around 24 ga or so, but it is solid copper wire so it's not so bad really. a spring mod would help the woody but bone stock it was hitting pretty damn ok with even a .5 in there

the real problem with running a high load long term is the main button switch contacts will eventually deteriorate. I wouldn't have a problem pushing a 5 amp rated switch to 7 amps personally so I'd say stay at .6 or above to be relatively safe but once you start pushing 10-11 amps or more you should expect the switch to deteriorate eventually. how much is too much or how long it would last at X amp load is anyone's guess but if your going to freak out if eventually your switch needs to be replaced then you shouldn't push it way past that 5 amp limit.

on the other hand if you are dying to sub ohm hard with your woody then you can always upgrade the switch and the wiring and the contacts to sub ohm hard but don't go overloading your woody to death at .3 or .4 and then complain when it's misfiring a few months from now , you should anticipate the possibility if you want to play, but I think something like .7 and .8 should be perfectly fine without being too adventurous and having to worry much :)
