For some odd reason, I'm feeling very hopeful that today is the day...tracking said my longed-for woods were in the Detroit area at 9:00 a.m. this morning.And they would be delivered today..(.yah right, it said they'd be delivered on Wed. also!)

Two points limit the Woodvil. The on/off switch in the bottom is rated at 3 amps. We hit the Reo for such short button presses 1 ohm should not be a problem and I've been using 1.08 ohm coil for weeks.
The fire button on the side is rated at 5 amps. If you bypass the on/off switch by placing a drop of solder across the contacts then you only need to worry about the fire button and at 5 amps you could safely go down to .84 ohm coils.

A week after I bought my 24-70 I was shooting a wedding, turned around to shoot, hit the release button and my brand new 24-70 hit the ground with glass shattering. I grabbed my back-up and finished shooting. I did drop the fbomb... not one of my most professional moments let me tell you!! Thankfully it's was only the filter that broke and my lens was fine. Another wedding I was shooting details during the reception, asked my daughter to hand me my macro lens, she wasn't paying attention and neither was I, she handed me an efs lens, I tried to put it on my full frame and it knocked the mirror off disabling my camera for the rest of the night. I FREAKED!! Thankfully I always have my back-up and I was pretty much done anyway. See my reality is worse than my dreams!! lol

I'm expecting my precious to arrive soon. Am wondering what type of oil people use to protect their woodies? (I read something many moons ago, but don't remember).
100% Tung oil. Also, people are using Howard's Feed and Wax to protect the inside of the mod.
You can bypass the switch by soldering the middle, and the right contact (I think those two) together.
Howard's Feed-N-Wax is what I am using inside and out but Karen recommends their Sun Shield that is like what I use but with added Sun Shield.
Thank you M&S! I JUST received the most beautiful 18490 Bobinga ever! Pictures to come. I have a question about the new Reo 2. in brass. I was about to build the virgin coil for my new mod and I am stumped. (Luckily, I have built many for my silver 2.0 but this seems a bit different. I know there is an OBVIOUS answer to this but I don't want to start futzing around in the dark. So here's my quandary: how does one get close enough to the posts to mount the coil on this? On my other, I just unscrew the top and there we go. On this one, the atomizer is connected to the cap.

I've had a Reo mini for many months now (18490), love it. Bought a full sized Woodvil this trip.
I put on my base and tightened it down flush using a rubber band for traction. A latex glove would work, too. Then I installed the cap, but just barely tight. That way, it's easy to remove just the cap to change wicks, etc.
Anyone test Vdrop on their woodvil? Turbo? I don't have the mulit-meter, just curious
I haven't. I only ran the woodville for a few hours with the .5, only until I got home and started modding the other one but it did hit good at the .5, weaker than a modded mech with good brass contacts but really not bad for what it is. the biggest drawback to running a .5 is that the added resistance throughout this mod will wind up sacrificing some usable battery mah wasted in the added resistance. when the resistance is higher you'll wind up wasting some power and sacrifice a little run time. the added resistance does consume some power
I can tell you that voltage drop will be fairly significant and that doing something with the spring will reduce it quite a bit. remember that the switch is rated to 5 amps but that's a 5 amp continuous load rating and will almost always be a conservative rating anyway. intermittent loads such as ours usually allow for quite a bit more. personally I wouldn't be afraid to run a woodie at .6 all day every day, which is really only ~7 amps max but that leaves less room for error and I wouldn't be upset if it did wind up crapping out a few months down the line too, although personally I don't believe it will.
of course I can't guarantee this but from everything I know I really believe it but this is why rob has specifically said this is not a sub ohm mod, so people don't get annoyed with the voltage drop or complain about the mod or expect more than it's designed for, but honestly I think he's spec'ing this thing very conservative and I think reasonable sub ohming is very doable here. to me the woodie hits better than my metal grand did. personally I'd sub ohm a woodie daily over a grand with the old contact setup if I had to, but you should probably stay at ~.7-.8 to be very safe if you don't want to risk anything long term.
if I get a chance I'l try to torture test my other woodie. I'll really torture test it and measure the results. I think this thing is much more capable than it's been made out to be and will surprise you but it's def in robs best interest to rate it conservatively, it's def better to over deliver than over promise, and we all know rob does that so well
