    Somewhere between here and there
I bought one of the 23mm reconditioned sandstorm units and received it today. It was sold as a grade 3 but I don’t know why. The box was perfect and I can hardly tell it was used. However, someone had it locked and in stealth mode when I got it. I never use that so had to look it up to find out how to take it out of stealth mode. I’m going to pack up my new 25mm sandstorm and use this one instead.

    Probably didn’t get used much.

You have to press the fire button five times to lock the jac. Then press and hold the fire button and the minus button for three seconds. That should bring you out of stealth mode. Of course you'll need to press the fire button five times again to unlock so you can start using it again.

Face down in the gutter, USA
After sending them a short video of the behavior, Jac has sent a replacement unit. Definitely great customer service on their end!

They originally were going to have me return the unit, until they remembered I was a US customer and told me to just dispose of it.

So, naturally, i opened it up. Everything looked great internally, no wires amiss or obvious issues. I chopped off the 510 at the board and the condition persisted. Appears Jac was right and it is an actual board level/trace failure, which is semi-surprising.

I put in an email to Evolv to see if they are interested in me shipping them the chip for QC purposes, since it would only be a fews dollars and i'm willing to do it to benefit Evolv's QC.

Evolv has since issued me an RMA number and insinuated they will be returning something to me.

While that was NOT my goal with contacting Evolv, if they want to send me a new board, i'm not going to argue!

Two Jacs is better than one!

Your effort to improve Evolv's QC is worth a free board. With a little work you should have a second JAC.

I'm just honestly surprised it was the board, i've never had a board level failure from an Evolv product.

Would be interested what Mike P's (if he's even still around) failure rate was across all those group buys he did over the years.

Yes, I'm a little surprised it was the board too.

I received great support from Jac also. I bought a dna mod from a friend that they had never used and it had the problem where the screen would go blank when you pressed the button. They sent me a new screen for free and gave me installation instructions.

I went ahead and bought a couple of these, just now, as backups.

I have some DNA75 boards and screens in the stash and thought these would simplify using them should the need arise.

Trying to get my last licks in before my state bans online sales, which they are fixing to do.

    ECIGCLICK15 got me 15% off.

I just want you all to know now that it survived I dunked my Jaq b in coffee. It's totally fine.

It also motivated me (finally) to take the time to firmly meditate over the reasons I hated coffee lids and I found a solution which is a coffee SPOUT that is hard to drop, it has a button and the spout pops up and I used it today and apart from trying to swallow my morning meds it works really well. Really well indeed.

Go JAQ B and no more coffee spillage. I washed all the floors and under the sofa.
