I have a brass from Tobeco, a stainless steel from fasttech and a black/copper from Infinite... along with the crappy Asmart/Skorite BC.

I'm happy with all 3. The buttons all needed a lot of work to get firing smoothly, but since then they're all really nice mods. If you want a brass or SS one, I think the ones from fasttech are perfectly fine. BC, Infinite is by far the best available, but still not perfect.

What did you do to the buttons to make it better?

All of mine have required sanding (1000, 1200, 1500 grit, then polish) to smooth out any parts that come in contact with each other. The main thing that causes the crunchiness or catching is the horizontal machining marks left over from production. It's rather difficult to get in there and get it all though, since they're such small parts.

The polish finish doesn't seem as well done as my Infinite and the Stingray logo is smudgy and super dark. This might all be issues that can be fixed with some cape cod polish though. The store owner also said there's been some floating pin issues where atties with shorter 510 connections won't sit flush like the Omega but I haven't tried myself.

Small very thin magnet under the 510 will fix that problem

on the switch. is there a way to get the brass threaded part and ss cap apart? my supposed infinite does not look like another I saw. I think what happened is they accidently sold me another jd!

You can tell the original from the clone by the Stingray engraving on the tube, the original is more detailed.

I have the real jd. my "clone" looks exactly the same to me. I am no artist though. the switch I saw on my friends infinite looked a little different than my jd and supposed clone. my clone came wrapped in bubble wrap with no tip or fanny pack. the kid at the store was clueless. I asked what brand the clone was. he looked on his phone for a bit and said it is an infinite. they might have messed up. I don't feel bad because I paid plenty for the clone and have spent a lot at that particular establishment. if it is a real jd it is entirely possible his work was a little better on a slightly higher sn. also of question is they are close and both much lower than what I have seen in clones.

nonetheless, if this is a clone it is some very good one but now I don't think it is an infinite. if nothing else because of how the inside of the switch looks. also my great grandson has a science kit. I was spending time with him and tried testing the threads. there is aluminum and high copper content. i am not exactly excited even if it is a jd. this is not the best mod to begin with. for some reason it is my favorite now but others workmanship is undoubtedly better.

If you're worried about how hard it will hit, why not choose a material or metal that's more conductive than stainless steel? Between the 'oooh shiney' vibe from the polished brass version to the touch of elegance in the brushed brass finish to the extra conductive copper you have quite a few choices.
