Am I the first to ever think of this? Is the following part of the ECF sign up and I just skipped over it?

When I joined ECF, it took me a couple of weeks to even realize what Casaa was and that I should join it. I can't think of two things that go hand in hand better. When I joined ECF if there had been a brief description of Casaa and an easy way to join (say by checking a box) I think tons of people would instantly become members.

I just cant get over the fact that there are only 7400 Casaa members but...

Would the ECF powers that be even allow it? Someone enlighten me for I can't see why not or if it's already there we need to make it more prominent or easier...

I agree that it could be an option at signup... Option, nothing mandatory. E-cigs are not for everyone and some users are transitory...

I agree that it should be totally optional. I think the least CASAA is asking for is to swell their roles. I'm almost afraid to ask this but is there any reason why someone would choose not to join (other than the people who don't like to join anything)?

I have wanted to join but never have because honestly it would only be wasting their time. I would never be able to help out...or at least not in the foreseen future. As a single mom of 2 kids and working 6-7 days (50 - 70 hrs) a week I unfortunately do not have time or money to assist. I would just be a name on the wall, which I know is somewhat helpful but not by much.

But it would be nice I suppose to offer that option as stated ECF and CASAA are 2 different "entities" and having the option on registration could lead to the misconception that they are one in the same.

You are asking the "$64 question" that many of us have been asking for several years. It makes no sense at all. I have to wonder if a large percentage of vapers are just too self-absorbed. I hope some non-CASAA members drop by this thread and enlighten us.

Numbers DO matter. Please take the one minute to join. There is no pressure to do anything. Just click on the banner at the bottom of this post. Plus, you have posted 662 time on ECF. If you added the CASAA banner to your posts (it's free and simple and can be found on the CASAA web site) you might be instrumental in helping some other new ECF member learn about CASAA and how important it is to our ability to vape in the future.

And thank you!!

I agree with wv2win, I haven't been "active" but it's nice to get occasional e-mails from them regarding e-cigs and the law. Also it is a great idea to put something in your signature line. Who knows you may inspire someone to join who really can offer time. Not to mention, CASAA would be stronger just by simply saying they represent 100,000 people versus just the 7400 they do now!

Actually that is not true. If you read the CASAA website you would know it is about quitting smoking, not tobacco. Modern western smokeless tobacco has the same low risk as vaping.

Technically, CASAA isn't even really about "quitting smoking" as much as educating and getting the truth to smokers about lower-risk alternatives. ;)

Every little bit helps. Maybe more than you know. If you got time for ECF then you can write a email to your congressman/woman. Don't take as long as you might think

Why didn't I see this before? Kristin, being you are on the board, has this whole idea ever been discussed with ECF about having an option to join CASAA when signing up? Is it even a feasible idea?

BTW, THANKS for putting yourself out there and fighting for us!

I'd have to discuss it with the rest of the board, but my gut feeling is that it could backfire. CASAA had already been accused by ANTZ of being a front for ECF, which they see as representing the e-cigarette industry (ie. paid vendor memberships for advertising.) If ECF were to direct people to join CASAA when they join ECF, that could support ANTZ accusations that CASAA is an "astroturf" organization that isn't really consumer-driven, but funded and run in the shadows by "the industry." (Not saying ECF is "the industry," but it could be twisted to look that way.) CASAA has worked very hard to avoid ties too close to the industry that could be used to raise doubts about our sincerity, trustworthiness and mission.

I suspect the rest of the board may have the same concern, but I will run it past them. Of course, it ultimately is the decision of the owner of ECF. ECF has already done so much to support CASAA, from giving CASAA a free subforum and free banner ads to assigning a dedicated ECF moderator contact to assist us with getting out CTAs and announcements. Even though CASAA isn't strictly an "e-cigarette advocacy" organization, ECF has given us an incredible amount of support and exposure.

Very good points and all of them things that hadn't occurred to me when I started this thread. Thank you so much for the eloquent answer!

On a side note, a new vape shop is opening in my hometown (only the second vape shop in all of Maine), I plan to ask them if i can bring in some CASAA business cards, a print out of the display sign and maybe some fact sheets. Every little bit counts...
