Hey Provarians - got a question for any of you with the 2500 mah batts and the spacer ring on the extender cap. I've used the spacer ring since I got it and assumed it was needed. But it was brought to my attention that the extender cap fits flush without the ring. I tried it and it does. Is there a real reason for the ring then? For example, does it keep the spring from getting over-compressed? Or can the ring be skipped altogether? If you know fill me in...someone else was asking me too so I'd like to share the answer with them. Thanks
Some 18650's are a bit bigger then others, but my guess on this would be that the plastic spacer was not to force the batt up against the electronics to hard, if you look inside the tube you will see the little round + side to the electronics and how those electronics are installed, you wouldn't want to push up on them really hard and move them, or force pressure up against those electronics. dont worry about the spring to much there cheap, and replaceable, it's those electronics up inside the tube you dont want to put stress on. Like I said also 18650's run slightly different, I use the Redilast 18650, 2900mAh a lot in my Provaris and you still need the plastic ring to cover the
threads that are exposed, and that's another reason it is used I believe to cover those exposed threads. There is a big difference in size also with the AW IMR compared to the black AW IC Batt, and others.
Edit: and with the new Provari 2500mAh Batt you should still use that spacer or you will be forcing the Batt up against those electronics.
Edit #2, they should have made the newer Bottom caps so the threads came up higher so no spacer was needed, and I can see them doing this in the future as well
