This was posted by fright88 on another thread. I think it does a good job of explaining the difference.

"Here is my simple explination. Right now I am vaping a mod at 6v ith a 3 ohm carto. using this calculator
Ohm's Law Calculator
I find that I am vaping at 12 watts.
Now what Variable Wattage does is you set the watt you want to vape at and it automatically adjusts the voltage to give me the watts I wanted. So lets say I have it set at 12 watts (something the beta units can't do but I am hoping) and I put on a 1.5 ohm atty or carto the kick should adjust the voltage to 4.24264 which is the voltage needed to get 12 watts out of a 1.5 ohm carto per the calculator. If I then put on a 3.5 ohm carto it would adjust the voltage to 6.48074volts.

Now the big difference between VW and VV is lets say on my VV PV I normally vape at 6v with 3 ohm cartos but I decide I want to try a new 1.5 ohm atty that I just got in the mail. If I throw that 1.5 ohm atty on my VVPV and don't adjust the voltage I am likely to blow the atty and am not likely to like the vape even if it doesn't blow because I normally like 12 watts (3ohm at 6v) and 1.5 ohm at 6v is 24 watts. However if I did the same thing on my Kicked mod or a Darwin I wouldn't have to fiddle with anything because the electronics know I want 12 watts and will automatically adjust to my desired vape."

A lot of great advice as always! Thanks all!! I may just try the kGo. Isn't it the same as an ego, but a true 3.7v? or more? Or the VV from gotvapes. It just doesn't really go high enough to be trully called a VV to me. But! It's more than I have now!! I would probably keep it at 4.2. (That's why I'm wondering if I would be perfectly happy with a straight 5V. But, I need it regulated)

The most important thing to me is to get a consistant hit. I need more power, but maybe not necessarily VV. And regulated means consistintant power to the carto. Right?

I've been reading about the lavatube. And thanks! I'll ask dark when she pops in! I don't know if the jury has been out long enough for that one.

I'll always need a cheap ego type battery for when I'm out and about. Remember... I'm rough on things... I'm the one that ran over my PV, lavatank attached, with my John Deere!

The search continues... Thanks all!!

I'm probably a little off base too. What I meant by power regulated is being able to slap whatever ohm atty/carto on a device & not have to change any settings to deliver the same performance. It is variable wattage.

OK. Great! That scared me when you said the Darwin was the only one! What I want is that the battery(s) put out the same power consistantly until the battery(s) is almost dead. What's that called?

EDIT: Reading your other post now!!! Thanks!!!

The KGO is an 1100mah ego type battery that delivers 4.2 and then goes down as the battery wans. You are not going to get regulated in a cheaper device. But trying all the different ego type batts the KGO lasts longer and gives more consistant hits until the battery needs recharging. Yes, a regulated device will do what you described, stay consistant until the battery needs recharging. I haven't seen one for cheap though.

Check out the newer indulgence. I think it's 3. Anyway it runs at 3.7 and you can change the battery configuration to run 6V. Stormys vapor cellar has them. Good luck.

Wow! Now that looks VERY interesting delabs!! Kind of like the roughstack, but with the button on the side. And slimmer I think!!!

And it can do 3.7V, 5V,6V and 7.4V!!! And only $60 for the kit!! This is something I may be able to do.

Anybody have one or know somebody that does that could comment? Is it regulated voltage output? (Did I say that right cap'n?)

<< off to read about this one!!! >>>

Hey Joanr,
What ya up to ? Come up with any good mixes lately? I did one the other day. I don't know what I did but it turned out nasty. :). I've had a kona coffee swirl on my mind lately.

Haven't been doing much DIY lately, I've went on a buying spree cyber monday and got some juices I've been wanting to try. The swirls usually turn out good since it's just your main flavor and the vanilla swirl flavor plus sweetener if you like it sweeter. I've been cutting back on the sucralose and substituting Marshmellow flavor to get things sweeter but still add a few drops of the sucralose. I did a Kona a few weeks ago and added Bavarian Creme and Vanilla Swirl to the mix + the Kona. Not bad, but it needs some tweaking. So what did you make that turned out nasty?

Hi
I tried a friends the other day just to check it out. I didn't have it long enough to wear the batteries. It felt very nice to me though, I kind of liked it I know you can just switch out the batteries for 6 V. How do you do in-between?

I dunno. I was going to ask that. I guess just different batteries... Or mixing them? Hopefully I'll get more time to read tonight.

EDIT: I got this right off of Stormy's:

Indulgence V3 supplies :

3.7V, 5V,6V and 7.4V, the most valuable ecig model.

the starter kit includes 2 pc 18650 which supplies the 3.7V

Thanks again joanr. But isn't the measly eGo regulated? I thought it stayed at 3.2-3.4 before it dropped off. I never notice a difference in the hit until just a few minutes before it dies. The KGO isn't like that?

It will flash at you when it needs to be re-charged just like the other egos. But it provides longer battery life and more consistant hits until that time. I don't think of ego type batteries being regulated in the same sense as the regulated mods but they are in a way 'cause they have a built in circuitry that will shut down the batt when it needs re-charging. None of them really provide a steady voltage though, it just seems that way.
