My cousin in CA was riding until he had an accident a few years ago near Sturgis. He has to be about 70 or 72 now. He's and x-Angel like 40 years ago. The accident did a number on him. Dark road, no helmet, no leathers (it was hot out) road was dark. A deer jumped out in front of him and another jumped over him and kicked him in the head. He lucked out, a big rig caught chrome in their headlights and stopped. His bike was shipped home for repair and he spent time in the hospital there and at home. Really lucky he wasn't killed.
Wolf, I am so afraid of deer! I ride to work before the sun comes up, and there are several areas with deer along the way.

Glad your cousin was lucky!

I'm with you! Gets scary this time of year, starts to get cold and all the animals start to move to lower elevations. The deer suck but I worry more about the elk and moose, and I don't ever wanna go up against one of these guys

Usually see them more in end of winter and early spring, which can still be March/April ;)

They're all over the place here, all winter. Moose scare the crap out of me. Not too worried about the elk, we have two refuges here and they're somewhat used to people. What freaks me out are these guys...

I've only been up close to them once.... On a back road near town in mid-February. We waited forever and then tried to creep by. We're still working on getting the dents out.

Here's a good Moose pic for ya :D

I worry about the moose, elk, and buffalo because of their size but they're not real jumpy, the bighorn sheep don't even flinch when you go by but if they're in the road at a blind bend that's not a good thing either. Never run into a mountain goat except way up in the mountains hiking and we gave them a wide berth. Can only imagine what they could do to a truck if they wanted to...
So where in WY are ya?
