It maybe your hard drive is getting ready to die. From what I have read from your posts this sounds a lot like what happened with mine. I fried mine a month after I got it brand new and then after I got it back from HP fried it again 3 months later. Apparently the hard drives HP puts in their laptops are absolute garbage the cheapest of the cheap. After the 2nd time my husband fixed it himself so he didn't have to deal with HP and put a top of the line hard drive in it. I'll have to ask him in the morning what brand he replaced it with and its now been going strong for a year. I also now use one of those cooling fans they make for laptops that you plug into your usb port. Now apparently and this is what HP told me when I called them is that you should not put your laptop down on your bed or in you lap for extending periods of time because it makes it over heat! Really I bought a "laptop" not to put in my lap or on my bed to use. This maybe or maybe not what's wrong with it.

This laptop is 1 year old now. Maybe I do need a hard drive?

I would look into it before spending a $1000+ on a mac book. If you can fix your laptop for $100 (like I did) it be better worth it IMO. Plus you can always replace it with a bigger hard drive too!

well if you are using firefox and that program also didn't work, that might be the next thing to check. it should have lasted more than a year

Get an external drive to back up your hard drive before it dies. You can get one really reasonable. I learned my lesson last year when mine died(such computer luck in my family). Mine died and I had all my candle sales records saved on it ....what a nightmare. Learned my lesson.

This my molten metal on the darwin and it has a lot of yeller in it.. maybe its the same thing... someone along the line of processing blanks may have changed the name.. LOL

Had an Compac(HP) and the hard drive fried.
My son put a drive 2x bigger in it for like $50, then put Win 7 on it.
Never had another problem with it. I use it as a hub computer now.
