OK, I have been reading everything I can on ECF for the last couple weeks. What a lot to learn, but everyone here is so helpful! I have finally decided to take the eGo plunge, but am still confused: which is easier to refill with juice - the carts or cartomizers, and what cartomizer can I buy that can refill with the condom method?

Also, I see eGos offered in 650mah, 900mah, and 1,000mah. What is the advantage of the higher # ones? Recommendations on vendor to buy from - a good starter kit?

I see some like cartomizers, some use carts with low-resistance atomizers. Ugg! What is advantage of either one? Help! Thanks,

i ve been using a 6 v chuck for 6 months. after getting my first ego with a lr 2.0 ohm cartomizer from nhaler i think that set up works a lot better the my 6v unit. there is some risk with using ego batteries with lr cartomizer but the increase in proformance is worth it to me. been using the same ego batteries with a 2.0 catomizer for 3 weeks with out any problems so far

The carts are the easiest to refill. All you do is drip juice on to the filler until it looks sort of slushy, stick it in the atomizer and vape. The regular 510 cartomizers can be filled using either the condom method, or you can pop off the cap and drip on to the filler. Mega cartomizers are going to be the hardest to refill. They have a fill port that you have to pierce before you can fill it and you have to use a syringe to get the juice in there. I use these and I like them, but they can be kind of a hassle and they definitely take some getting used to.

The difference in the batteries is the battery size. The more mah's, the longer it will last between charges. JMO, but I wouldn't use low-resistance atty's with these. Some people do, but they can drain your batteries faster and even ruin them. That choice is completely up to you.

As far as vendors, check out Liberty Flights, LiteCigUSA and CigNot. All of them are excellent and you should be able to find something you like.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask if you have more questions!

Great question, wish I had asked about 2.5 months ago! After everything I've tried (regular attys and carts, mega cartomizers etc.) The setup I've found to work best for me is the XL atty and XL type B carts. The XL atty puts out a lot of vapor, good flavor, and the carts are easy to fill and last a long time. When they do fade just pop it off and top it up. A little messy at time with occasional leakage, but overall the best combo I've tried. I had the problem with the mega cartomizer where it tasted awful, the blue foam thing was a pain with the standard carts, but with the XL stuff it works a lot better and don't have to worry about needles etc. for refilling.

Oh I tried the LR 510 attys too, burned out quick and not worth it IMO. I'm using the 900mah manual battery and it lasts all day, the 650 does about half a day. I sit in my office and vape pretty constantly too.

I have the Ego 650 and use the condom method with the 510 carts and I am happy as a clam. The biggest problem i have faced is finding flavors i like and want to stick with. I would also get the cone for the Ego if you dont have it. Makes it look better in my opinion.

Silly new person question...what's the "condom method?"
I know the little stoppers that come with the carts have been named cart condoms...does the method just imply using new carts each time the current one kicks it?

Go to Youtube and look up condom method of filling cartomizers. You put juice in the little condom, then slowly slide it onto the thread end of the cartomizer. The juice will slowly be sucked up into the carto through the little hole. That's the condom method. There are other ways to fill a carto, however, and I find them easier and less messy.

Here are some links:
YouTube - A Great Way To Fill Cartomizers
Dr Vapor has several vids on carts that show different methods, but the one above is on the cap fill (condom) method.

Also check out the taryn spin: YouTube - Reverse Taryn Spin

You can get the same results as the spin, I've heard, by snaping the carto like a mercury thermometer.

I suggest trying out carts, cartos and dripping to get an idea of the methods you like. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

You can use the condom method for Boge 510, KR808D-1, SLB, and 4081 cartomizers. There might be more that I haven't included.

The mAh is how long the battery will last before needing to be recharged. My 900 lasts about 9 hours and my 1000 lasts about 12 hours, with constant vaping.

Here are the lengths of the eGos: (the diameters are the same on all of them)

650 - 2 3/4"
900 - 3 3/8"
1000 3 3/4"

I think it's quicker to refill cartomizers than cartridges, because I don't like messing with the filler in the inner cart. I can refill a cartomizer in a few seconds, using either the condom or direct drip methods.

If I'm using an atomizer and not a cartomizer, I'll use a drip tip as a mouthpiece and drip directly into the atomizer (after removing the drip tip). I never use the cartridges.

Welcome to ECF and happy vaping!
