The CLR is way better than the CL. I had the same issue with the stock coil frequent dry hits and a hot vape. It did much better after rewicking though. I'm still using the same CLR head for 7 months rewicking twice a week and recoil about .9ohms with kanthal when needed.
Thanks, just ordered the heads, kanthal wire and some organic cotton, going that helps. Will look into a longer drip tip too. It kind of sucks, I don't get the full flavor of the juice because I'm not running hot enough, but the high heat doesn't agree with me. [emoji20]

Thanks Puf, I did some additional reading and I'm about order some Ti wire and cotton along with CLR to build my own and go from there. Might be the way the coils sit vertically as well on the stock ones, so going to build and do horizontal. Any suggestions on any other atomizers that might work on the Ego One that might perform better? Will look into a longer drip tip as well. Many thanks for the response, will let you know how it works out.
Kayfun v4 works well on that mod

Look for a drip tip that has airflow control (like the tip on the smok tfv4 tanks)....with that you can run your vape hotter, but cool it back down....more flavor, cooler vape ;)

Thanks, question though, the tank has the air flow control on the bottom, is a secondary one on the drip tip necessary? I'm just assuming, but guessing the one at the biting of the tank regulates air/heat to the coil and the one on the tip regulates the output heat of the vapor. Just assuming [emoji2]

That's correct...the drio tip airflow has only one purpose, to cool down the vape

if I can say this right…

airflow at the coil plays into atomization, juice flow…

AFTER that occurs , air flow at the drip tip cools the product (vapor)
BEFORE it enters your mouth/lungs...

as a side note: Aspire REMOVED that option in their V2 ???

Sweet, you guys have been awesome. Now, just need to find a vendor with a good selection. I typically buy everything from MVS, but they are lacking in drip tips. [emoji16]

hey, how cool is that to get your stuff

that 32g is gonna heat up f-a-s-t...
just 5 wraps around a 1.6mm mandrel (ID) will yield 1.65Ω

what are you gonna use it on ? (device)

can't wait to hear how it goes... :)

could always try the 'twisted' route
-

Hey Puf, so, I'm running into an issue. I'm doing 5 wraps around a jeweler screwdriver, I'm not sure of the ID, but I tested it against the 1 ohm coil that came with the CLR and it was snug, so decided to use it for my wrap.

I carefully wrapped, centered and rebuilt the coil, made sure it was in the center of the atomizer, ran the leads properly, or it together, installed it on the base and then did a resistance check. I don't have one of those fancy tester, so just using my ohm meter, one lead to the pin and other to the threaded shaft.. (he-he, he said shaft[emoji2] ), sorry, some Beaver humor. I get a reading of about 2.8 ohms.

However, when I put it all back together and try using it, it doesn't work, believe the ego one vt is showing a short. The power button blinks 3 times and then shuts down. I've double, triple checked the build and it looks right. I have it set to W (not T or N) , temp set to low.

What the hell am I don't wrong. The booklet says I should be able to go up to 3.6 ohms I believe to get about 7.5 - 9 watts.

Any suggestions?

well glad to hear you’re building coils

so you have a ‘short’ ??
could be many things

be sure the coil legs are not touching
INSIDE the coil body (or inside wall)

but I’m betting on where/how you CLIPPED
your positive leg wire off sticking out
from your center pin (+)

as close as you can (nail clippers)
then tuck any exposed with your fingernail into grommet

best would be like USMC sez: pics, pics, pics

and your NUMBERS ??
guessing here: 32g / 5 wraps around 2.8mm / 2.8Ω

Hey puf, what is the significance of twisting the wire -- is the 32 gauge I bought two thin?

:2c:
yes, 32g is pretty thin, meaning you can't get many wraps to achieve the Ω one would like
all depends what Ω you're looking for...

then with 32g, when you push the fire button - BAM ! - coil turns red hot (almost instantly)

eg: looking for 1.5Ω (avg)

single 32g 3 times around 2.5mm = 1.5Ω
twisted 32g 6 times around 2.5mm = 1.5Ω

just me, but regardless - I like to keep my wraps @ 5-7

Hey guys, so I'm giving up on this Ego One, just a pain for now. I rebuilt the coil and yes, the original one did have the positive lead touching the body causing it to short out. I rebuilt it with the twisted 32g. And dialed in 1.8ohms. Unfortunately, this thing still kills me. I'm going to have to find a PV that allows me to dial in voltage or wattage. Here are some pics of the rebuild.

Any recommendation on one to dial in voltage? I love my spinner and vivi nova, maybe just need to work in a new tank for the spinner. [emoji31]

Rebuild with a larger wire (or add another strand into the twist). It will take more time to heat up, maybe make the vape more pleasant for you

Thank you sir, already have some 28 on order, will give that a try. Might also explain the muted flavor as well.

I thought switching to vaping would cost me less versus analogs. Lol...
