What's wrong with that wicking material? Looks like a flattened out piece of koh gen do to me.

I think my coil is getting to the point where it may need to be cleaned out or changed. I just filled it up and I'm getting a slightly burny harsher taste. But this is the first non 0 nic liquid I've put inside of it and maybe I'm gonna need to adjust to lung hitting the 6mg when I was just using 0mg. It could also be my juice, its a lot darker than the 0 nic samples I had in there before.

Unfortunately it seems they are using that odd fiber material on the eGo one heads as well:

This most certainly is not gonna go well for joyetech, unless they can show it is zero health risk even when inhaled. "Looks" like the same stuff that was found in the aspire and delta 2 heads to me.

Sure does appear there are 2 different materials in there, one of them may in fact be 100% organic cotton, but what the heck is that "other" stuff. SHEESH!

E-GRIP vs. EGO One

Hello all. Productive thread! Like many of you I vape...well, everything from Mods to Hybrids to Pens. I was initially quite impressed with the e-grips, but after trying to use them as my daily for a few weeks, I went through two units, many leaks, and the occasional dry hit. I also found it necessary to keep the head primed by creating suction through the air inlet. This was consistent with a range of 50/50 and 70/30 pg/vg liquids. Oh, and anything over the bottom 2 settings had a good likelihood of burning. Yech.

Now, last week, I lost my Atmizoo Lab 18500 on the Rideau Canal. I loved that damned mod; it had a nifty Greek cargo-tank and a stupidly expensive drip tip. Anyways, I also misplaced two other faves and found myself without any decent atomizers for daily use except aerotank minis. It was embarrassing.

Tuesday morning found me pulling the Joyetech Ego One out of my sub-zero postbox. I ripped it open with single-minded intent and filled the frosted cold liquid chamber with Yaeliq's BananaNut. It Vapes Fiendishly. And it's soooo tiny! The One gives me no dry hits on the 1.0 ohm, and I have simply not seen the quality of vapour production, nicotine, and flavour on any.other.kit.mod. This thing is out of the ballpark. It's diminutive, well built, and simply styled. I like it.

This thing is my companion. The nice, but flawed e-grips are consigned to the shelf. Where one is leaking quietly, the damned thing.

TL;DR
My recommendation to fellow readers is to purchase this a la carte. Avoid the 1.8ml head (which I expect I could refill 3 times on a single charge) in favour of purchasing 2x 2.8ml heads, which are only slightly larger. And, since a wise vaper carries back up, but two. Two 1,100mah batteries and 2.8ml heads, it lasts me all day and night. The larger battery would assuredly suit heavier vapers.

Question for readers - My sense is that the 0.5ohm heads will potentially not last as long, and consume more battery. S'truth?

They will definitely eat up the battery faster, as far as how long the heads last compared to the 1ohm ones I couldn't say as I've only been using the .5 ohm, but I have one .5ohm head that I've ran over 60ml of juice though, while it was gunky and slightly slow to heat up it still put out great flavor and vapor. I only re-wicked it after finding out about the odd wicking material joye used as I just feel more comfortable with straight cotton.

What's wrong with that wicking material? Looks like a flattened out piece of koh gen do to me.

The long piece on the right is just cotton pad, very similar to KGD, but the smaller piece next to it is that same fiber stuff that the atlantis uses, not sure if it's ceramic or sillica or what but it's definitely not cotton. I won't tell people they shouldn't be using it but people should be informed!

More honesty from Joye would be greatly appreciated ;) Whatever it is it disintegrated as I tried to handle it and left an extremely fine dust on my table, I'm not even sure how they build the heads without the stuff falling apart.

another rewick video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmtEE8Nrsvo

I gotta say, right now I am going back and forth between my Egrip with the RBA and my EgoOne xl 1 Ohm. Clearly the Ego wins on flavor, but I have been getting an occasional dry hit (burnt taste). Vapor seems to be to close to measure. I have poked holes in the Ego atty cotton to try and get more feed. And will rewick when I have time. They both are top notch vaporizers. And both are at price points I would have not expected to see these high quality devices to be at years ago.

Not a bad vid but when he cuts his cotton he might wanted to have mentioned it might wick better/more fluidly if the grain runs vertical not horizontal as this is a vertical coil. The first 2 builds I did I didn't do this and the vape was lacking. Only a 50/50 chance of getting it right if we don't take notice of which way the fibers run. Cheers.

So far I only had trouble with this device.

  • 1st head, 100% VG -> short circuiting and flooding
  • 2nd head, 100% VG -> started flooding after a couple of hours use
  • 3rd head, 50/50 mix and 100% VG -> lasted a bit longer than 2nd but also started flooding quite soon
  • 4rd head. 100% VG -> at long last, no flooding!!! But with this one I get dry-hits

It doesn't seem as VG is the problem as many claim. Great battery but the heads are so, soooo problematic. Add the ceramic crap to the mix and this turned up a disaster

I rebuild the 3rd one with cotton. I rebuild the 3rd using the original cotton pad initialy. I got flooding. Then I tossed that woven pad and used plain cotton. It went well but the taste is quite milder. I think I also raised the ohms and got a much cooler vape.

@bssage Since the original pad is kind of woven maybe you should try wraping it in a more loose maner

Had a crazy incident with the 2200 mAh battery this evening. Turned it off with atomiser still attached, put it in the outside pocket of my backpack with my wallet and phone. 30 min push bike ride into the city, 30 min meal, rode another 5 minutes (part of which was across some cobblestones), stopped at my destination, reached into the pocket to pull it out to have a vape and nearly burnt my fingers on the atomiser.

Got it out of the pocket (with more care) and it was still running with juice running everywhere. Carefully pressed the button five times to turn it off, no good, still atomizing. Had to get a tea towel to unscrew the atomiser, by which time it had vaporised all the juice and it was glowing like Formula 1 disk brakes and of course burning the wicking material.

Only after unscrewing the battery could I turn it off. So much for the 15 second run time protection. I can only think that when I rode over the cobblestones that the vibration against my phone or wallet must have turned it on. But as for not turning off until I managed to unscrew the atomiser  I can only imagine that the extreme heat affected the switch mechanism.

Now that I'm home, I've thrown away the coil, cleaned the tank & base, set them aside to dry out. And the switch is working properly again, although I haven't put another atomiser on it yet. I've put it on the charger and will leave it on there until I go to sleep.

Definitely won't t be throwing it in the bag again. In fact it might have to be the stay at home device; which is a pity because it is so stealthy.

One more sign of trouble and I'm returning it to the shop.

I hate you guys ... today I bumped to this thread, and now I wanted an eGo one .....
The option of using 1100mah battery kinda left me speechless... and it charged with 1000mah input, so it basically need only 1-1,5 hrs plugged on the wall...
And it still can be used while charging.

I want this badly...
too bad in Indonesia we have only the 2200mah...So I'll wait a moment untill I can see the 1100mah around.

Some question before I end up broke buying another thing I dont really need :p :

1. Will it have overcharging protection ? It's important because I usually do overnight charge when I sleep. Cloupor mini have this features, so I feel OK doing it everytime.
2. Can I charge it with 2000mah charger ? I dont ecxpect the charging time will be faster, but I just dont want another charger plugged to my wall. I charge my Cloupor mini with my Redmi Note charger, and its OK.

Thanksss

Question 1 has been answered, question 2...It's best to use the charging gear that comes with the device, however if the other charger only charges at a 1amp level it should work fine.
Both the 1100mah and the 2200mah ego one batteries charge at 1 amp max.

I wouldn't want to see someone charge a battery at 2amps if the battery is only designed to charge at
1 amp. Especially overnight, one should always keep an eye on things no matter what is being charged.
You may get away doing it a thousand times but that 1 time the equipment fails will burn your house down. Cheers.:vapor:

Not worth the risk imo.

I charge my devices with a 2 amp charger all the time with no issues. I usually don't leave them over night though. One of my normal chargers makes the battery get pretty hot and makes me a little nervous but oddly enough the 2 amp charger doesn't do that at all and charges it super fast. I'd keep an eye on it though.

Aspire Atlantis / CF Sub Ohm Battery user checking in. I just picked up the 1100 Ego One as I want a device that is a little easier to carry come summer time when I'm wearing shorts. I have to say, I am impressed! I am using the 1 Ohm coil right now and the vapor production is excellent! Definitely enough to satisfy my needs and the flavor is very good.....maybe even better than my Aspire setup.

I'll have to try the .5 Ohm coil yet. I did pick up a 5 pack of the .5 but my initial impressions tell me I would have been happy with 1 Ohm. Charging it now and after it's full I'll see what kind of daily life I can get out of it. A half of a day would be great, anything more and it may very well replace my Aspire setup.

I tried rewicking my original coil today. The top cap was pretty hard to get off, but everything else was pretty simple. I haven't gotten it perfect yet but I think I can get it right after another try or so, too lazy for now so I just popped in a new coil. My first attempt at rewicking, I had a little bit of cotton blocking off some of the airflow at the bottom of the coil. I fixed that problem by rewicking it again and using a toothpick to push the cotton to the side and making sure there was a clear opening in the middle of the coil. Unfortunately, theeen I added too much wick again and it didn't seem to be wicking as well. I'll try again later.

So I've come to really like doing lung hits off this device. I've been testing out some 0 nic samples I got in this tank and can take pretty big rips. I tried putting in some of my other juice which is 6mg and it was too harsh to do lung hits in. I was gonna reorder some of the samples I got but now I'm having trouble deciding if I want to get lower nic juice for lung hitting or my usual 6mg for mouth to lung hits with a little TH. I don't want to buy the same juice in two different nicotine levels sooo... I dunno what to do. I could get 3mg but I'm worried it won't have enough TH if I use it in my other devices or do a mouth to lung hit. Ahh... vape problems lol.
