Joyetech eGrip - I am loving this thing!

Day two, and I'm still loving this thing! I'm sitting here right now vaping my favorite juice, Tripoli by Charlie Noble…high VG and a coil killer in all my tanks. The eGrip is handling it no problem. I did have to go to the vape shop to get some 0mg to mix with my 18mg so that I could vape it without making myself sick. While I was there, the kids at the shop were pretty fascinated with my new toy. One of the guys there, who vapes exclusively mech mods and drippers, claims that he has GOT to have one now because I let him try it and he was amazed at how it vapes. Right now nobody in town is carrying the eGrip, so maybe they'll order some and be the only game in town selling them in a B&M.

Only thing that I've noticed is, there is a tiiiny amount of leakage at the bottom. Does not seem to be coming out of where the rba screws into the base,it seems to be coming out the bottom seal where the wood grain part meets the metal. It is a tiny bit of liquid, just enough to notice every once in a while if you're looking at it. Anyone else have this, and if so, is there an easy fix? It's by no means a deal-breaker, it isn't enough juice to hurt anything, and it didn't leak at all standing up full all night. It just seems to happen when you're actively using the device.

Yes we get all out joyetech stuff from joyetech. Broken usb's are not covered by joyetech so I fix them for free to cover for them and at least try to keep those people as our customers. We have contacted joyetech too and they are not going to do anything to fix the problem egrips so we are dropping them from our store.

The ones I looked at were completely torn free... granted I did not look at all that I replaced. Nice though and thanks for sharing!

So you purchase directly from Joyetech and they would not replace? Or are you purchasing through a middle man? In which case they need to replace for you and contact Joyetech.

Most of the time broken USBs are a wear and tear issue. This was not the case in the first eGrip run... apparently my experience with them is different than yours.

We had a bunch of first runs. Only a few of them that I saw were the newer version which in sure are the ones we didn't get back.

Thanks guys, maybe ill try cleaning it. I do not feel comfortable taking it apart and thought I'd have to to get the cinnamon out... :) I have coils and the rba, and I daydream of using that rba... lol

Well most of the tank is glass and only makes contact with only a little bit of rubber so just get some vodka or rubbing alcohol and let it sit in the tank for a few minutes. Try doing that a few times and maybe you can get most of it out.

and change that coil! I do understand your frustration... with his expressing interest and you wanting it to be available should he finally decide to do it.

Hmm... well, first off, bummer. New toys shouldn't be leaking. I'd say that's a warranty claim. Neither of mine have leaked a drop so far, and I've been leaving them on their side, tried inverting one overnight, checking coat pockets for evidence, etc.

I have read that the RBA can, but wondering if that isn't in extreme usage / cases.

Just filled up with the Basic Tobeeco and diggin it bigtime - reminds me of my grampa's pipe tobacco. Not nearly as sweet as it seemed out of the eGo taster in the shop. Wonder if that doesn't speak to the eGrip's efficiency?

Can't wait to go back Saturday for the RBAs and more airflow :)

I've had my eGrip for two days now, and I am not 'loving' it. I like it, but so far...shrug.

I do love the size, and the weight of the device. I also like the capacity, VW settings, etc.

What bothers me boils down to two points:

1. No cover for the charging port. I'm sure that they could have worked one of those small plastic/rubber slides to cover the port, for protection (this seems to be a problem with many modern electronic devices). But for a device that is made to be used with a liquid? How could you not include a sliding port cover?

2. Flavor. I have a specific 'vape-all-day' flavor: Candy Cane, by MtBakerVapor. I have used this stuff as my go-to liquid for over a year. I've used it in cartridges for cig-alikes, for the eCab tank, for Kanger T4's, for Kanger EVOD'S & EVOD 2's. I tailor the consistency for the specific device I wish to use, from 70% VG/30% Distilled Water, to 100% PG. I have consistently gotten an enjoyable flavor (though in the case of the eCab, the flavor was muted). Not so, out of the eGrip: my beloved Candy Cane is tinged with a slight sour flavor :(

I went with the eGrip because the size, and the fact that the reservoir was built in, meant that it was easily pocketable in my uniform shirt pocket. But I was also swayed by the reviews, particularly several that claimed 'no dry hits'. Sadly, I have had two dry hits, one particularly bad one that made me gag, and I would not now trust this device anywhere close to the 20 Watt setting.

Overall, I'd say that this is not a bad device, but I was personally disappointed. Perhaps I just had my hopes too high.

I figured it out, all by myself like a big girl. I was so proud. :) First, there was that screw on the side that was supposed to be for the airflow for the stock head but which is not needed with the rba…it was all the way open. I tightened it all the way up. Then I used the teeniest screwdriver in the world to also tighten up the two tiny screws on the underside, right next to where the head goes in. I guess they might have become loose during shipping or something, because they had just the tiniest amount of play in them. Also, I noticed inside the rim of where the head screws down, there was a hole (for the airflow port for the stock coils) that had a bit of felt like material in it. The material was pushed into the hole. I used my tweezers to pull it just a little, so it more effectively blocked the channel. No leaking since. Even when it was leaking it was such a tiny amount that I wasn't super bothered by it…but today it alternated between my pants pocket, my hand, and the inside pocket of my purse, and nary a drop came out.

The only time I have had leakage from the rba air hole was when I filled the tank using the side port instead of filling from the bottom. Maybe three drops came out the bottom. Next time I filled it from the side, I stuck a finger over the rba airflow, and it didn't leak that time.

I think you will like the rba. It has a great flavor, and pretty airy. Not too much, IMO, but enough that if you want to inhale straight into your lungs you can with no problems. I haven't had any of the stock coils, so I have no comparison, but I really like mine.

Get the rba base for your egrip and give it another whirl. The flavor and vapor from the rba base blow the stock heads out of the water.

Ok, I read this post and decided this would get rid of my gurgling. So I got out the teeny screwdriver - but on all THREE egrips (which all gurgle and leak slightly) the screws just spin - they don't tighten. And then I noticed that there's slight leaking all around the edge of the bottom on ALL THREE!

The screws aren't spinning, you're screwdriver is. Those are torx heads (T-5). I'm guessing BlueCanary found a flat head that fit.

You have 3 Egrips??

I do! And it has been pointed out to me that it was likely the tightening of the RBA that stopped the gurgling and that the liquid is probably still trapped inside. But my tiny screwdriver isn't enough to unscrew those bottom screws to clean it out - I'll have to go to Lowes!

I used the tiniest flathead that came with my tiny screw driver assortment from Harbor Freight. It barely fit, but it did turn it enough to tighten it. It didn't have far to go. And it fixed the leaking. For now, anyway. Remains to be seen if it was a one-time deal or if they are something that will wiggle themselves loose over time again. I put the little guy through a pretty rough beating two days in a row, though, and it has held up like a champ. No way would I put one of my iSticks in the situations that I've had my eGrip in as far as banging around in a pocket/car console etc. and not probably risk breaking it at least at the 510.

I meant my experience with Joyetech not with the eGrips. I think we all got about 30-40% bad ports in that first run. Who is your sales person there? I have dealt with them for 6 years and am pretty familiar with the team. I am puzzled that you are getting a different response than I am.

We had a bunch of first runs. Only a few of them that I saw were the newer version which in sure are the ones we didn't get back.
