Alright then, thanks for thinking along with me!
Yeah, from what I gather I just have to make sure I get a unit that doesn't show the firmware version to be past that 30W ramping problem.
I still have about a week till payday though. So I have some time to look around and will keep checking other options and suggestions until then. But I highly suspect I will end up with the VT anyhoe, haha.
And of course I have no way of knowing if I even like TC, or TC with this unit. I may end up wrapping Kantal or Clapton coils instead eventually. I'm just gonna try it all and see what's what. Time shall tell but I'm excited to start the journey!

just to chime in about the VT I'd have to say I agree with what Jeremy sez about it...
had mine 7 months and it is a rock solid device
just that 30w burst IF you don't happen to have a capable coil installed can foul your party...
non upgradable was a mistake ??

I have moved on from INTERNAL batteries now so I will just run this one for all it has (then toss it I guess)
right now: .4Ω Ti / 42w-430°/ in a 7ml STPlus / 5000mah /like the fun never ends...

ps: jus sayin' - only other I can think of that compares is the
MVP 3.0 PRO 60w/4500mah/NO temp control/lots of features

good luck

Appreciate the suggestion too, but I really want to try TC as well with my next apparatus.

The Cool Fire IV TC100 looks to be the best internal battery device coming out.

The CoolFireIV TC 100 Temperature Control Vaping System ( Coming Soon ) - Innokin

I think I just entered a giveaway for that one!

I haven't looked in to it that much though, although I vaguely recall seeing a YT review on it over the last week. But the only thing I remeber about that review is the reviewer commenting on the texture of the logo or something, lol

It's not nearly the looker the VT is, but if it's really that good looks should come in second I guess. I'll look in to that one some more, thanks!

my VT does the burst anytime/all the time

if you have say; a 1.8Ω kanthal coil in and after 4min
touch fire button ~scorch~
I've learned to 'reflex' blow to cool coil while this happens OR it's re wick time...

:) :(

So at what Ohm range does it start to be a problem, are Kanthals @ 1,2 Ohm still safe for instance?

Do you have an earlier model with firmware version 1.18 or 1.19 by the way, or is yours one of the later versions?

One site has it listed $48.99

I have three TC devices but I still want one, I gave my original CF4 to my son and really miss it. It was so comfortable to use and even at 2000 mAh the battery life was outstanding.

That's pretty great! I would definitely look into that if I was in the market for a mod right now.

Interesting. Well bummer, I will take your word for it. I never noticed it but I also never vape below 30w or any wire thinner than 28g. I have a friend that does about 20w on 28g and never mentioned a problem.

I guess if you have heavy enough wire it wouldn't be an issue. I figure minimum 28g 6+ wraps to absorb the heat up. Maybe 26 for a mtl hit if the mod bursts 30w.

I think the gauge is more of the issue, heavier wire will take more to heat up, thinner wire takes less to heat to vaporization temps. This is based on the mass metal in the coil to heat up. That's why lower powered devices use thinner gauge wire in the coils. (My vt is the first version.)

Oh and looking more at the cool fire linked above, it is much more sophisticated than the vt. The aetheon chip sounds amazing, and it has better temp control and more wire options. It looks like a real winner so far. I may have to get one myself soon if it doesn't get trumped in the next couple months. It would be my first innokin product.

Each thing listed here is better than the vt.!

  • Complete range of T.C. Modes (SS, Ni200, Ti).
  • Total T.C. Dry Hit Prevention & Quick Calibration.
  • UltraFast response: .2 seconds from Click to Vapor! Vt is much longer like .8
  • VDC power output with ClearWave noise cancellation. Vt no clearwave
  • Precise Coil Resistance Reading (.00000). Vt .00
  • Uniform coil heating eliminates hotspots.
  • 25 – 100W Temperature Control RampUp preBoost.
  • High quality stainless steel 510 threading.
  • Spring loaded gold plated connector pin.
  • 2AMP microUSB Quick Charge. Vt 1 amp
  • Integrated charging safety protections.
  • Ultra-low standby power consumption. Vt has sampling consumption 3-4 min after the vape.

Ah, so anything from 24 to 28 should be safe then, as long as I keep the resistance <1,5 or so? I was planning to order some Ti 1 and Kanthal both in 26g to start with.

mine is the v 1.18

and I run 31g 1.6Ω-1.8Ω at say 9w-12w // 29g-10-14w
so it can't handle a 30w burst  ~fry~

I run 40+w in TC so don't notice the burst...

if I remember and blow/suck to cool before I hit fire button,
I can overcome the burnt wick effect...

so pretty much have delegated it to >40 TC duty, since I tootle puff normally (8-15w)

Really loved my VT 60w...but I took a break from vaping for a few months and just came back, and I can't for the life of me find my Evic lol, not sure how you lose such a big box but MIA. I half want to buy another but I figure there is better stuff for the money now?

Ay, that sucks. You'll probably find it again if you start looking for something else though, or after you buy a new one. That's how it usually goes for me anyway. Good Luck :)

ps: liked for sympathy only.
