Exactly, not including a spring loaded pin in this day and age is a major mistake. I will not buy a device that doesn't have a spring loaded pin.
The subox is designed for use with the sub tank.....i have a feeling they chose the non adjustable pin for its lower voltage drop. If all you plan to use on it is sub tanks, the non spring loaded pin isn't that big of a deal.... If you like to swap around a plethora of tanks.... Probably not the mod for you :p
For the price point, it's a great first time sub ohmer set uo

I went into a local B&M today to drop off some art work for some T-Shirts and I had my Evic with me. The B&M is all female employees who call themselves Vaping Vixens and a lot of them are Hotties :w00t: Anyways they asked if they could handle my mod  So I agreed and pulled it out of it's silicone protective case :D They really liked it since most of them have a Evic Supreme. It feels good when 9 women wanna check out your mod :rickroll:I let them take turns taking a hit off of it.

I want the black subtank. Not a fan of single battery subohm

They need a yellow Subtank so it can be matchy with my mod. I may take mine to have it powdercoated. I have a spare I can try out

I have a powder coat gun and oven! I think they use cerakote on theirs. The plastic in powdercoat my get damaged by the juice. Worth testing I suppose

Many of the early batts with spring loaded contacts used the spring as a current carrying component in the pos circuit. There were a lot of probs with those. All of the new mods I've bought in the past year with springy thingies have the pos wire from the control board soldered or staked directly to the 510 pos pin which completely bypasses the spring mechanism. Shouldn't drop any more voltage than a fixed 510 pos pin....in theory. I think Kanger is more interested in selling their subtanks than providing a universal solution.

Spring loaded pins have their advantages and disadvantages. In temperature control they actually work against a stable resistance. I really like what the Heatvape Invader Mini did with their connection. Gives a nice solid, no variance connection that is adjustable to different 510 lengths.

I have some airbrushes. I was thinking about picking up some. Curious if the moving parts will get gunked up
That is a tough one there. Somehow Kanger does it so I don't see a reason why someone else couldn't. It would suck to ruin a perfectly good atomizer but if you have a broken or cheap one sitting around you could always test it. OCD Mods alters tanks so I don't see why someone else couldn't

Not necessarily, it seems. They can be terrible for resistance, if the spring is poorly implemented. But Dicodes, who have published some great information on TC vaping (more in-depth than any other TC vendor to my knowledge), claim that a (properly implemented) spring is actually ideal.

From their Application Note For Temp Controlled Vaping:

Due to the warming up of the vaporizer and head, it is advantageous to have a spring element between atomizer and mod, to compensate the danger of changing contact resistances. If neither the mod nor the atomizer has a spring contact, it is better to have the mechanical stop provided by the contact pin and not by the head. In other words electrically it is better to accept a gap between atomizer and head as otherwise the resistance is somewhat undefined.

In other words - ideally have a good spring; if this can't be achieved, have a 510 pin short enough to ensure the atty and mod are not flush. They implemented these guidelines in their own mods: their top mod the 2380 has a (rather strong) spring, the mod down from that the Dani Extreme v2 does not have a spring and has a 510 pin so short that no atty will sit flush - always a 1mm gap. (Personally I think it's rather cheap that they didn't put a spring in the second mod too given it costs $150+, but there you go.)
