I currently use ego c twists. I don't want to spend the money for a provari and I've been looking at the evic. Is this a good choice/what else would you recommend in the same approx. $100 price range?

Also, the evic comes with a charging cable. How does this work for charging a removable battery?

I personally opted to get the Itaste MVP2 over the Evic as i've heard the evic is really just a fancier version of the twists.. It's VV/VW has an ohm reader, and is generally in the $50-$60 range

The evic appears to have all of the same features as the itaste mvp2, and I prefer the 'pen' style over the box with the mvp2. i don't see many differences between the two otherwise but I may be wrong?

That seems a little harsh on the eVic. Even on MVR 1.3, it's got many features.

I had one, it's dead. Would I buy another?...sure, when I have the money.

In an ideal world, I'd have both the MVP and the eVic. As it is, I went for a SID as money was tight.

I really like my evic, plus I am a techie. :) the evic charges through a side flap you plug in the micro USB cable in the box which is used to program and retrieve your data. You can make custom modes and has a bunch of other good features. Bottom cap come off and you can have a spare battery as well. Images attached.

The eVic is vastly superior to the MVP 2.0, and has a display that second to none at any price range, but there is a catch. The V1 tops pop off when the device is dropped or even knocked over on a counter top. If done with enough force (not much actually), the lead wires would be literally ripped out of the device, and no one will warrant or fix that for you. I had to learn to solder because this happened to me 9 times on three different eVic V1's, which I fixed 7 times, meaning I still have two broken heads. Even using a strong epoxy to keep the repaired heads back on didn't work. Also, when I got mine on software version 1.1, they didn't work very well....terrible actually.

THE SOLUTION

The V2 came out in June, though the shelves are still full of V1's. They're the ones on "sale" at unbelievably low prices, and for good reason, they're complete crap, imho. I found and bought a V2, my fourth eVic. The V2 has two machined screws in the top at the side of the 510 connection, and so far, so good. Also, version 1.4 is now out, and version 1.3 was outstanding and fixed every problem I had with the device, or any I ever read about. So, that being said, they went from real lemons to lemonade, they still have the best display, the most features, the greatest flexibility and they use a chip superior to the standard China 33.3 chip, which is to say a good chip that is superior to virtually every other China Mod on the market.

SO SAD

For me, the bloom was off the rose. I had spent over $300 on the four eVics, added tubes, including some nice telescoping stainless Kir Fanis tubes, so say another $150 on top of that, but because they had become so delicate in my mind, I would never take them out and, over time, I just migrated to the Provari and Provari Mini, and I haven't looked back. I would never consider buying another one.

CONCLUSION

Forget my sad story. I use Provari and Semovar now. However, a fixed eVic does have the best design, imho, of any tube mod less than the Provari, is feature rich with the best chip in most devices below the Provari. It is not a DNA20 or a Nivel Chip, though, but it's better than the other 99 China Mods (Better chip = better regulated power = better vape). Phil Busardo has a decent video on the eVic that covers the performance specs on the eVic, and some are excellent, some a bit lacking, but overall quite good for it's intended market. There are some really great after market tubes, caps and accessories that are fun to add, so you can really trick it out. The USB charging and computer interface is unique and superior to most other Mods. I'm a little shocked to hear this compared to an Innokin MVP, which didn't even have an Ohm meter until last month, or variable wattage, and was plagued with bad buttons and threads. However, V2 of the MVP fixed those issues, but it's still a long way from the eVic.

The downside is that eVic did not stand behind their product, nor did any vendors, nor did I ever find anyone who would or could repair it for less than replacement cost. I will never buy another first generation JoyeTech device, and the Innokin first generation devices have also been fraught with problems. The Innokin VV V3 (#3) is perhaps the best stick battery on the market, imho, but the first two sure weren't. So, just saying the first generation anything out of China is risky. I used to really trash the eVic and could back it up with my actual story and true facts about the device. However, those issues are resolved, time has passed, forgive and forget, so.....I'm back to saying for someone inclined to be attracted to those features, you'll probably love it and have good success with it. It is limited at 5 volts, though. Of course, you have to make sure it's a V2 BEFORE YOU BUY IT. REMEMBER TWO HEAD SCREWS AT THE 510 CONNECTION.

Good luck to you!

I like my eVics (I have 2). I probably wouldn't like them as much if I had to spend $100+ on them, I think I spent $65 and $75, I don't know if you can find them that low any more. I would have a problem paying as much as Joyetech thinks they're worth for anything unless I had money to burn.

People say they are wimpy but I haven't had a problem with mine, but I don't drop them or stick them in a pocket to be sat on.
The amp limit isn't the best if you want to push anything major, pretty much forget about dual coils (I'm sure you could figure one out but it wouldn't be easy).
The screen is impossible for me to see in sunlight, even with the new inverse screen.
The think I've liked the most was the RVV/RVW. You have 4 programs you can set up to suit different heads or flavors. I would have a burst of high power for a split second and then taper the power down as the heat built. Or I'd pulse between high power and low power. That no longer does me any good because I've gone to RBAs and a burst of high power gives me a hot leg, but if I ever figure it out I'll go back to it.

As far as charging in the mod, realize that you're charging a battery that takes about 3 hours to charge (and in spite of what you may have heard lithium batteries are effected by charge cycles so topping up and half charging are not ideal). Will you be plugged in for 3 hours? Probably not. It's easier and more practical to have a supply of batteries and a charger. When the battery dies, replace it. When you have time to charge load up the charger.
I get about 2 days from a battery so with the 18650 battery mods I only have to charge once every couple of days at most.

I would look at a Vamo and an SVD too. They don't have all the bells and whistles an eVic has but they do everything anyone needs except tell time (which the eVic does). They also have higher amp limits.
I don't have an SVD but it's larger around than an eVic, I don't know about the weight. A Vamo is definitely heavier.

If anything, as a completely throw away mod like the Twist is (when the battery goes you toss the whole thing) your MVP is actually more like a Twist than an eVic is (and just as different as an eVic is). That lack of changeable batteries is what keeps me from getting an MVP.

Some of the sale eVics may be the V1 but not all. Both of mine are the 2 screw version (but that place is no longer selling them). FastTech's were the 2 screw (but Joyetech clamped down on their low prices).
Best solution is to ask before buying and hope they tell the truth. The place I got them from had a picture showing the screws. You can bet I would've raised a fuss around here if they had fake pictures.
Joyetech's pricing structure makes the $104+ prices the ones that are too good to be true ... for the sellers, so there is plenty of room for sale prices to happen. (Plus anyone who's really out to rip you off won't have a problem selling a V1 for $104 so it's a question to ask no matter where you buy.)

I started with the eVic version 2 so I never went through a stage where I felt the need to move up to something better ... this thing just works for me.

The passthrough is a great feature that has always provided me vape when needed. (I just plug it in when it needs a charge, the battery lasts all day and then some).

I have quit smoking with the eVic and would not change a thing starting over.

As far as durability goes ... I treat it the same as I do with my cell phone, therefore no issues :2cool:

I have an evic. I have been using it for 3 months constantly. One battery is on charge, other on evic and just now the one I am using is down to 17% so I connected it to computer it is charged and I can vape as well (Passthrough) Did not have any problem But I am very careful to use it cautiously There are too much features I dont use (Dont know some) and you can use its software to have your vaping history and arrange it to work 4v for 2 sec, 3.8v for another 2 and 3.5 after that (This is weird you can arrange second by second and whatever volt you desired) Get how many puffs you get etc. entertaining for some and a sound device for me.
But I only used red kiwi (Ego type 650mah with ce4v3 type heads) before. If anyone should say something is better, I respect

I will add my voice to the satisfied Evic user list. I have the V2 running MVR 1.4 and I am very happy with it. I especially like the battery meter and the remaining puff counter is very useful to me as a truck driver, it. Will let me know if I can make it until the end of the day or the next stop to change batteries or do I need to stop at the next rest area etc.

I have the Itaste SVD as my backup device and will be looking to get a Provari for the simple fact of build quality and warranty. It sounds like the Provari is what we call Trucker Tough and that is what I really need in case I forget myself with it hanging around my. Neck and bang it in to something.

Overall tho I would recommend the Evic if you are inclined toward one, I notice the difference in the vape experience between the Evic and the SVD using the same tank and same juice. The Evic is smoother and more enjoyable to me.

The evic v2 has 2 screws in the top of the head. See image.

Most kits I would hope by now should have only v2 heads in them.

I would check b&m near by you and open the box in the store or ask them. You might pay more, but you can guarentee what you get is right.

Description below :

Joye eVic Control Head v2 with two (2) screws, silver Top Ring & eVic Firmware Version 1.3 preloaded / installed. Version 1.4 is now available by downloading the new Joyetech eVic MVR v1.4.

thanks for the replies so far. does anyone have a link to a site selling the V2 specifically?

I was looking at this Joyetech eVic electronic cigarette
but am not sure if it is the v1 or v2

I don't know anything about Litecig or what they sell, contact them. (Some call it a 2 screw control head.)

I use Cignot for most of my Joyetech stuff. Vicky is good about getting back to people, https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-evc-stn.htm
They also have a forum here, Cignot (as does Litecig, LiteCig ).
Your answer may already be there.
I would trust that both of them would have the 2 screw heads having forums here (but I guess you never know).

Yes, indeed. Totally agree. Flawless logic. The missus uses my Kir Fanis eVic now....oh, well, she's happy. You can't beat the Semovar though, imho, in a tube APV.

The evic is a great device. I've unfortunately had 2. The first one died 3 days into use. No known reason. It is my daily driver hands down. The features are just "gimmicks" unless you absolutely need them. More for people trying to cut down on vaping. But the vape experience is IMHO pretty good. I had the opportunity to use it next to a provari for several days prior to the purchase decision and I chose the evic. It does feel fairly cheap in the hand when compared to my vamo or my MVP or vtr but it grew on me because it is light. Just remember if you like the evic your probably not going to be satisfied until you get it.
