torch silica and taste will leave sub
So I cleaned everything, soaked it in warm soapy water, rinsed, then soaked in grain alcohol. It definitely tastes like Boba's Bounty again. There is still a slightly different taste, maybe it's just the silica wick, though, I'm not used to that. I'm almost wondering if there was any soap residue on the parts, but I'm not sure how that would taste... it definitely seemed clean.
Either way, it's much better!
Does silica wick have a slight flavor at first? I know with cotton it did, but it also went away after a few vapes.
I did manage to use the rest of my wick to make a new setup as well.

Oh yeah, let me ask one more quick question that's unrelated.. Do you guys close the mouthpiece when not in use or just leave it open once the wicking starts, and is any reason to do or not do that?

You should close the mouthpiece when not in use for longer periods like overnight, especially if you're eliquid is thin. You may also experience flooding in high ambient temperatures if you don't keep it closed when not vaping. It will depend on the viscosity of your liquid.

Ok thanks! And I think I do need to torch the ceramic, but I'm afraid I will crack it! There is still a slight taste of the last juice.
Bishopheals, there was still some slight black spots on the ceramic... I brushed it with alcohol and a qtip pretty good, but still didn't get all the taste out.

How easy is it to crack the ceramic? I'll have to look in the classies for a v2 ceramic piece.. I would just hate to break the ceramic and not be able to use my Ody!

i find that some liquids taste terrible in the ody
i am a big fan of OK smokey liquids, i love that stuff in a Bully A2 ... but i absolutly cant stand it in the ody (or Penelope, or Ody Drip mode)
Some stuff just tastes different. Some taste better, some taste worse ... dont really know why

Asche Its all in the way you make your wick and coil. So many people I have helped when they gave me there gg to try and it tasted horrible metal taste dry taste, ceramic all dirty etc. so many things will lead to bad taste. After I show them on skype one to one they say same thing they never thought it would be so rich in flavor, great throat hit, and great vapor.

Even more flavor is u use mesh in ody or pen.

I be more than happy to spend a couple of hours with you on skype and look over it and be happy to provide some pointers.

thats a nice offer :) thank you
just theoretically :2mm, 3mm, 3,5mm wick, 0,2mm kanthal wire (3,5cm gives me about 1.4 Ohm, tried 3.2-4cm, so about 1.2-1.8 Ohm) tight or wide coil ... didnt make a difference
the ceramic was cooked in milk 2 times, bathed in soap (and clear water) about 5 times now ... generally i keep my ggts and ody quite clean
and it DOES taste very good with some stuff, i am not really complaining. it just tastes different. and with some liquids it brings out their worst ... with some their best. thats my finding till now (using the ody since it came out)

I've never used any chemical in any type of atomizer I've cleaned, I just leave them soak in boiling water for 10 minutes and a rinse under the hot tap to finish off, I would never use soap as It will taint the eliquid.
Up to you how you do things but what I do has always worked well for me.

I can't wait to get my extra ceramics so I can torch one without worrying. The more I use my Ody the less it tastes like the other juice.. but I'd still like to just torch it and start absolutely fresh. Loving my Ody, though.. I only wish I started using it earlier in my vaping career! I would've saved a lot of time and money :)

there are different kinds of silica wick that will absorb juice faster and some that are just not good quality. I got some from a vendor not long ago which didn't work right i had to boil the wick and then dry it off then mount it with a coil to get it to work properly.

I find this practice odd. If Imeo sets the price for his devices then why doesn't COV just charge that price instead of giving the "bigbuyer" discount....when you remember to or have the time to apply it...like when it's a mad rush to obtain something in limited supply before they are gone. That one extra step could cause you to miss out on the item. Do you think they know that? hmmmm

I use to wonder the same thing but then I realized it is likely due to the code being a sitwide code. In order to not do it the way they currently do they would have to make all items in the GG category not work with the bigbuyer discount code. This could also cause some confusion as the bigbuyer code is a sitewide code that is supposed to work with everything. I have also had issues in the past with the code on the old sale way as well so I would love to seem they change the way it works. However with the new pre-order system it is much more relaxed and not as hard to remember. I do however feel a bit sad for people not "in the know" about the code though.
