As i continue my adventure into DIY, i have made some great flavors and some meh ones.
My question is how do you test your flavors? For example, i have 3 rdas that i will drip to taste and try to keep certain profiles apart.
I guess my concern is that if i am making a couple flavors and they are being used on the same rda, should i just rewick for each flavor or is burning the old flavor off work?

I have a bunch of the little 510 connection shorty attys for taste testing while making my recipes. It's easy to burn off any residual flavor before trying the next few drops after I made a change. They're cheap now, too, since not many people use them any more for their original purpose. They used to come with 510 slim kits (like joyetech, etc.) that used the little foam-filled refillable cartridges.

Do you travel the wick as well or just burn the coil off?
Yeah,i dry burn the coil and replace the wick,it's so easy to do in an rda that it only takes a couple minutes to do.Another option i have seen some people recommend in the past,is to not put a wick in at all,and just drip a few drops right on to each coil, you'll only get like 1 hit from it this way,but it would save time and make it even easier.

I use an igo-L RDA. I remove the wick, rinse, dry burn then replace the wick. I use regular cheap drug store cotton which makes it quick, cheap and simple. The IGO-W4 is nice if you like duel coil configurations. They both have a nice lip around the deck so they can hold a good amount of juice and the W4 has a hole in the binding post which makes coiling simple..

I think I may be absorbing way too much info into this brain of mine! The more I read about DIY, the more confused I get :-x :confused:How would I test on the Wotofo Sapor RDA?
I know the feeling but slowly you will start absorbing more.
I'm not familiar with the sapor but if it's an RDA then it should be the same process. Rewick for different flavors burn off excess in between wicks.

By burning off excess, exactly how is that done? I'm sorry, I've never used an RDA before. I ordered 2 of them and haven't received them yet. I did watch a vid on how to build so I'm not 100% in the dark here lol

To burn off or (Clean the coil) remove the wick and fire up the coil (Press the button to heat up the coil) for about 3 - 5 seconds. This burns off any gunk left on the coil. If the coil still has gunk or juice on it repeat. If the coil has a crust on it (Usually from overly sweet vapes) then you may have to brush it off the coil after a few heatings. Then rewick and drip your next sample. This should be obvious but don't touch a hot coil let it cool or you'll get a nasty burn.

I am just getting into DIY and this sounds like something I can really use. Where do you find them?

Where do you find them?

Many websites still have them in LR (low resistance, usually 1.5-1.9ohms) and/or in SR (standard resistance, usually 2.2-3.0ohms). Some who still sell them are: LiteCigUSA, PrimeVaping, MyVaporStore, ValueVapor, and others. Many have just black, and some possibly still in white or stainless. My original JoyeTech ones were black and white that came in their 510 double starter kits and I think in SR. I bought 2 more of those in late 2014, from VapeBig where I got my original JoyeTech kit.

ValueVapor is where I got more last October. They had them in a wide range of colors and on sale. Many were made by Low Rider in LR (1.9ohms) and some made by Bauway in SR (3ohms).

Be aware though, many of the 510 shorty attys have alittle leaking problem if you put more than 3-4 drops in them at a time. When testing new sample recipes...I just keep a Kleenex close at hand in case of any leaking. You'll also need a few drip tips to use with them...nothing fancy is needed - just acylic, Delrin, etc. ones will do, the el cheapo ones!

I hope that helps you. :)

I am taking a slightly different approach. I am making 5ml samples and filling tanks that I normally use. I want everything to be as I would normally vape. I let them steep 2 weeks and my calendar tells me when they are ready.

The reason I fill a tank is that my sense of taste seems to change quickly. So, I vape that sample tank and others just as I would normally switch tanks. I want the juice to be tested as my mouth changes throughout a 1-2 day period, rather than just putting all consideration into a 4 minute vape.

As I vape, I write notes and then when the tank is empty, i can go back to my notes as to what the next step is.

IMHO

I have found that when taste testing different e-Liquids it is very beneficial to cleanse your palate. I used some premixed bottled lemon water which got rid of the taste of the previous sample. This is not for the MOD or coil but rather your taste buds. A few vapers have reported this worked for them also. YMMV :2c::2c:
