Do you guys get liquid on these adapters and often have to wipe them off?

I get liquid on there more often after a few beers, probably because of the old "smoking while drinking", I have a tendency to put more juice in the atty.

I do clean it off a couple of times with a paper towel/napkin and notice a difference after.

And I agree about the baby sitting, it should be "plug and play".

What's the "Staple Mod"?

If it was in that link he put on his post, I couldn't get it.

Thanks,
Paul
Its a way of extending the center post of a PV when its not making good contact with the atty. A lot of atty's have indented posts, so its necassary. You can use this instead of lengthening your center post on the prodigy. You use a staple to lengthen it instead of actually hammering your center post out further. Something like that. I don't have a link to it, but there are plenty out there. Check the troubleshooting section on the main forum, and search for "Staple Mod".

I don't know if any of you poor buggers are using these blue Tenergy 3v 900mAH batteries.

These things give out nearly 4 volts each.

I'm basically vaping at 7.5 volts and not 6 volts.

No wonder it fried a 5 volt resistor.

I would measure your output on these batteries...

Those batteries do not give true reading when they are not loaded. Here is the data:

  • Rechargeable CR123A Li-Ion Batteries with 3.0V working voltage and 900mAh capacity.
  • Tenergy RCR123A can be recharged up to 1000 times. 1 RCR123A Li-ion = 1000 CR123A Primary Cells
  • Replaces most of CR123A primary Lithium battery for a digital cameras and flashlight
  • Internal voltage regulators.
  • Modified Voltage to achieve 3.2v at full voltage; once loaded, cell voltage drops to 3.0v.
  • Internal over-charge and over-discharge protection to prevent battery over use. The current will be shut off when the battery voltage drops below 2.5V.
  • Dimension: 16 D x 34 H mm. (The height 34mm includes the button top)
  • Weight: 17 g or 0.6 Oz.
  • Good for flashlights, Camera etc.
  • This battery is not compatible with SureFire Flashlights
So you can't get the true reading when they are unloaded.

Let me know what happens.
I want to know if suddenly one of the two batteries reads 0.00 volts, and as soon as you recharge it , it shows 3.7 volts again...
Battery has a protection circuit. As batteries discharge, they loose voltage, once 2.5V is reached, protection circuit will disconnect the battery to avoid over-discharging. This means that the voltage will show as 0V. Once you start charging, the voltage will get above 2.5V again and the protection circuit will allow discharge.

I think what you might need is a 1v resistor switch. I am pretty sure that a 5v resistor, will resist 5v. Just thinking out loud here. I could be wrong.

Resistors are measured in Ohms, not Volts. To select a proper resistor, formula gets a bit more complicated, and depends on the resistance of the atty. E.g. for a standard 901 atty which has 3.5 - 4.5 Ohms, required resistance to drop the voltage from 6V to 5V would be 0.7 - 0.9 Ohms respectively.

Edit: you should also keep in mind that the current can be above 1A in the prodigy, which will bring the power above 10W, so don't buy some low current resistors that'll only handle 10mA.

If you had a resistor in the prodigy switch, it would be quite difficult to fry it at all, especially before either battery or atty dies.

To measure proper (under load) voltage on the battery, you can try to attach one wire to the inside of the switch wire (positive) and another to the threads of either adapter or the battery cap (negative). You'll be able to see voltage significantly dropping on the multimeter, once you press the button and activate the atty. This is also the only way to properly measure the impact of the resistor.

I received my shipment today. I charged up one set and put them in and they worked just like they are supposed to. When the voltage of protected batteries reach the lower voltage limit the protection circuit opens the connection and the volt meter will read 0v, by design.

The instructions state that these batteries will not fully charge for several charge cycles.

I get hard draw and poor quality taste on my Prodigy. Usually every day or two, I clean the atty with Ever Clear - 190 proof pure grain alcohol. The performance returns to "normal", and the liquid taste great again. I seem to average about two weeks of use on an atty before it is shot.

I use an 801, I think the large reservoir gets kinda "gunked" up after a full day of vaping.
