Sterno and I have a difference of opinion. Respectfully, I have to side with my rba sensei, JC Okie. Sterno's not wild about the 901 (air inlet hole on the side) style of rba's, so he prefers the A7. I think the a7's a bit slurpy when drawing on it. I just LOVE the reomizer for nice, long, slow, luxurious drags.

I've wholeheartedly adopted Jan's cotton wick, sidewinder method for recoiling the chalice, OTOH...

Clyde, I love the term sidewinder! So I'm curious as to how they're constructed. Do you have any pica and can you post them, please?

While I'm not a Reonaut, I am a bottomfed user (homemade VW BF). I built a couple RCA RBAs for my box, but bought my A7 and haven't looked back at consumable atties or cartos. I especially like the solid SS construction. It is a little tall, but that doesn't detract from it's shiny. It has a cupped area that excess nicquid can be caught in, so skwonking can be reduced. I can wrap and swap a coil/wick in less than 5min. That's hella faster that waiting on the postman for another atty!

NICQUID! I think you've invented a new word, I love it!

By "sidewinder" Clyde is referring to the placement of the coil on the posts. Instead of placing the coil diagonally over the center hole with one leg going in forward and the other leg going into the other post from the opposite side, I just make a coil and place it on one side of the two posts with both legs going into the post holes in the same direction. That's all. It places the coil all on one side of the posts instead of diagonally across the middle. If it's on an ERA, I make sure I place the cap so that the air hole is closest to the wick. If I'm using a Chalice or the REOmizer, I make sure I check first where the hole falls (after the cap is screwed on) and place the coil on the side closest to where the air hole naturally ends up.

I just find it much easier to install a coil this way (both legs facing the same direction) and haven't found any difference in the vape. When we met up at the last vapemeet, we experimented with making wicks and installing them. That's the way I had been doing all of mine, and he found it easier (too) than putting the legs through the holes in opposite directions.

The word "sidewinder" is his, and I'll admit I wish I had thought of it. LOL

Well dang, I thought it was some new cowboy type configuration:(:)

And I agree about the sidewinder style...I had an awful time with the diagonal set-up!
But I'm now the proud owner of a Chalice and making a diagonal set-up for it is easy.....I'm all about the easiest quickest way, lol.

Thanks, but the term I'm proudest of coining is 'Reonauts'.

In case you were wondering, it was on May 9th, 2010. Technically, Clumsy is the second Reonaut.

I hear you my friend....me too. When the first came out I thought not for me because of 2 big reasons...1) my arthritis & 2) Im extremely lazy.

Hi Gil,
I'm 67 have cataracts, arthritis and had two heart attacks this year. I can rebuild and install a coil on the REOMIZER in less than five minutes. For me, there is no comparison. RBA's provide more vapor, better throat hit and taste than any pre-built attys. Once you try them you really can't go back.

For me the A7 just doesn't make because of the sliding center post and it being easier to flood.

Hands down, every RBA I have used is better than any standard type atty. Even the A7 is better and that one I couldn't stand. RBA's are a game changer in the vaping world. The ERA is a well built RBA, the only thing I do not like about it is that the posts are too close together. Robs RBA has plenty of room between the posts plus it works best on our Reos. I haven't used a standard type atty in five months and have no plans on ever using them again.

Well, normal cartos/atties still have a perfectly good use -- on a 510 or mini Ego battery for the tiny factor.

Now I'm just waiting for someone to come up with an RBA size of a carto. Probably vertical coil and all.

Hmm, I wonder if I can gut an old Boge and a Phoenix and Frankenstein-ize them.

510 sized RBA from the maker of the GG products. Reported to work as a dripper, in a carto tank, in the UFS, and yes even on a REO! By all accounts since its no bigger than a standard 510 atty it should fit all the Reos. Looks very promising, if not a little cost prohibitive...

Watching that video again I think I might have to get one when they come out. Whats another $85, right?

One thing though, Imeo has not revealed any of the inner workings of the Achilles, but if its anything like his other products I'm sure it will use a ceramic cup and require the use of NR and R wire. I don't know why that puts me off. Guess I just don't wanna have to deal with splicing wires together.

Its also obvious he's not a Reo user. That squonk looked a little rough.
