I got my first starter kit last christmas, have been abstinent from analogs for about a week finally. Just hade a serious craving last night, though didnt cave. Over the past year Ive had a few 2-3 day streaks, but am not going back this time. Its all about getting good equipment and keeping stocked, The kr808 i started out with didnt cut it, got a passthrough and that kept me satisfied while i had access to power, but have a v9 defender (kr808 ego) now that performs much better. I could also pass blame for the lengthy battle on not being able to afford supplies always and bumming smokes as being more accessible than liquid/attys. THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE!

Sometimes I think it's the "mind set". I needed to quit for the sake of my lungs so, there was my reason. We have to make the dialogue in our head support our decision. I found that, to be a constant challenge. Anyway, to answer your question...I smoked 2 ciggies a day, the first one of the morning and the last one at night and vaped to my hearts content in between. Probably for about 2 maybe 2 1/2 weeks. Then I have had 3 cigs, that I had to bum from a neighbor, at those times when my internal dialogue could not or would not agree with my mind set!!! The need for the analogs just seemed to get lower on my list of priorities. Now I have been analog free for over 2 months. YIPPEEEEE :2cool:

I started vaping in April or May of 2009. I immediately went from a PAD of American Spirit mediums down to two a day. I still smoke those two a day, and I enjoy them. One in the morning and one after dinner. Will I give those two up? Yes, I'm sure I will, but I'm not worried about it right now and I don't feel the least bit guilty. I know there are others like me who just haven't posted to this thread, but I wanted to put that out there since I think every post so far has been from people who have completely quit. And I think that's fantastic! Wouldn't it be neat if we could know the number of analogs that have been avoided altogether by this community? The number would be staggering!

While I understand this to be true for many people...
There are also many people that never intended to quit, or wanted to quit, and just accidentally did so.

I may never understand why the electronic cigarette immediately hits some people square in the face.
And for others, it builds over time to the point where they finally get it.

I knew with my first drag off an electronic cigarette that my days of smoking were over.
I really don't understand anything other than my own experience.

Just imagine the number of analogs that have been avoided in the US alone. Not every e cig user goes to an internet forum... When I first started researching PVs I thought it was rediculous that there were forums devoted to them... There is so much more to them then I imagined and I am glad ECF is here now. What I really wonder about is whether there has been a noticable downward trend in analog sales due to e cigs.

I'll be the oddball on the other end of the spectrum.

I'm 33, I've smoked for 21 years, a carton a week of Pall Mall menthols for the past several years.

Initially my motivation to quit was the smoke free credit offered at my work that would make my insurance dramatically less. My insurance offers Chantix at a great price so I started on that around the end of August. After taking it for around 4 weeks I was having terrible side effects. I managed to go 4 days without a smoke but as soon as I stopped the prescription I started up again.

I started vaping in September, first with a disposable from a smoke shop, then an overpriced kit from a smoke shop. I've progressed through many different models since then; kr808 with cartos, ego, 510's, now many different mods; boxes, saber, indulgence, glv2, joye stick. I've tried so many different juices from every vendor imagineable. I'm sensitive to pg so many of the juices choke me. I'm still smoking 15 cigs a day on average, I track them with an app on my phone. It's frustrating but I just can't find 'the one thing' that does it for me

lyn,

If your true desire is to stop analogs Swedish Snus could possibly help you. Here's a link to a beginners guide at the ECF Smokeless Tobacco sub : http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/smokeless-tobacco/80061-beginners-guide-snus.html

I've read somewhere here at ECF and elsewhere that Swedish Snus can provide certain properties of tobacco that vaping can't. It calms you and lessons your desire to light up. When I first quit stinkies I always had a plug in my mouth, far less so now.

The folks at the smokeless tobacco sub seem like real fine folks. Poke around there -- you might find your answer.

Good luck and Merry Christmas lyn.

I stopped the nasties the day i got my eGo (my first PV).
Surprised the daylights outta me cause I never, ever thought I'd give up and I just did it without trying too hard. I've had a couple of times where I've thought Geez I'd like a ciggie but haven't had one.
My other half said to me the other day:
Her: so have you had a smoke at all?
Me: Nope
Her: not even a drag??
Me: Nope
Her: you haven't even had a drag of mine??
Me: Nope :)

She's glad that I've quit but just can't grasp how easily I've done it considering all the other times I've tried to give up, I've been a nightmare to be around and this time I'm the same as normal.. (that probably means I'm still a nightmare)!!

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE!!! No matter how many you still smoke there are lots that you aren't smoking so be proud of that for sure!!!

Quit after the first vape using a 901 from a mall purchase. Upgraded the next week to an internet bought ego. After using an ego for 3 months switched to the vaping machine Boge Leo.

I smoked 2 pads a day for 33 years never quit for a single day till I tried the 901. I also had 7 pads still leftover never to be touched again
