GGTS TWEAK MORE VOLTS LESS DROP LOAD FORGETABOUTIT!!!!!

After that bath in the ultrasonic clean all brass contacts with hot water and toothpaste as per Bishops video and you should see improvement in both voltage and drop.

This is a great video indeed - that's what initially inspired me to toothbrush my threads. This gave no impact unfortunately. I also just went ahead and brushed both springs and bottom post and button assemblies. No change. And here is what bugs me - I would expect to see gradual improvement from cleaning( if there were indeed dirt I'd be removing it and continuously increasing conductive area ), but maybe threads and contacts were all fine to begin with and it's just there is a part that I am missing which creates a drop ( on two different JGG-s, no less! ). Unfortunately it's not just a bunch of components in electric circuit that I can go and measure individually.

I also wonder if flat vs button top batteries make difference? I only have button top AW IMR and the 0.5-0.6 drop I am getting is from 18650 ( for that matter, I am getting ridiculous 0.8 drop from 18350 under same conditions ), but also waiting for Sony VTC4-s so will be able to compare once I get them.

What voltages are you getting ~ No Load / Load?

This was my top results after I did this cleaning method and putting in a freshly charged AW IMR (button) 18650. I think before the cleaning my voltages were like 4.18/3.54 pretty much same as Bishop's tests with the GGTS.

The results have quite improved and tests results are just like Bishop's video from having a .63v drop with untweaked JGG and a .37v drop after tweaking with a good toothpaste cleaning.

xtreme post the load resistance for this test. Voltage drop is meaningless without load resistance.

Did this test a while back right after everything was spankin clean. I believe it was dual 1.5's @.8ish ohms.

Guys, it is true that you will find more voltage drop on a used JGG than a chi you clone. It is all about points of contact. Chi you clone and all other similar mods have the following contact points:
+ of battery -> positive pin -> atomizer (black box from + to -) -> body (for brevity assumed no voltage drop across threads) -> switch pin (assuming touching switch housing) -> -of battery
JGG contact points:
+ of battery -> positive pin -> positive pin of lid -> atomizer (black box from + to -) -> body (for brevity assumed no voltage drop across threads) -> button head (assuming touching housing which most of the time is) -> button head and pin (solid connection here) -> brass axis and spring loaded pin -> - of battery

More contact points does not equal more voltage drop in practice but it definitely means more maintenance. Imeo made use of the new aloy of brass to make our life easier with maintenance and that is why he was insisting on brass button head as well.

Yes I get frustrated sometimes that I have more voltage drop than some of my other mods, and i have to spend time on maintaining GG's, but that is balanced out by the design of a sophisticated mechanical device, and not a tube with 2 caps. You know i can also run my atomizer by soldering wires to my battery and connect them to my atomizer each time i want to vape, I would get the lowest voltage drop!

Thanks a lot, Xtreme - this is indeed quite helpful. So you are not getting tiny VD even after cleaning. 0.37 drop on 1.5 would likely mean higher drop on lower ohm so we're roughly consistent. Say, if you got 0.1 after cleaning, that would get me very puzzled as I believe I paid my dues to get the contacts clean. Thanks again.

Now that really makes sense - Chi You does seem like a much simpler mod in terms of features but also has substantially less parts which would explain the lower VD. If higher VD on JGG is what you pay for extra safety features and an awesome button well hey that's what it is, everything has a price. I just wound down my KFL to 0.8ohm, swapped a button on SS JGG to SS one ( no voltage drop observed ) to get a slick uniform look, loaded it with tribeca and went through the whole thing along with half a bottle of Laphroaig and it just felt right. That's what matters in the end.

There's the "any old way" of cleaning, and the "proper" way of cleaning. I pretty much stick with the "any old way" method.

Rubbing alcohol and a paper towel works nicely.

Guys can I ask a stupid question? What does it matter if you get voltage drop while you get a great vape? Personally I don't loose much sleep over the numbers knowing I get a fantastic vape from my JGG/Ithaka/Penelope.

In all the years I've been vaping I don't think I once checked what voltage drop I get under load. I just check if my coils give me the best vape possible.
If you regularly clean your GG products (I use my ultrasound cleaner) the voltage drop is so negligible and not even worth checking IMHO

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have never been that concerned about it either. But, there are those people who think the numbers are important. To some extent I agree they are, but like you said, as long as the vape is good... That's all that really matters.

What are these new type of springs on the left. Seems these have now replaced the brass ones on the right in both button and battery. Are these stainless steel... silver?

Well the numbers do not matter when u have a good Vape. But once the good Vape lasts few minutes compared to other mods you start measuring and calculating. When u buy a 2000 mah battery you want them all to yourself.

It is also very important for small 18350 bats
