So I just made the switch from analogs (my Triton came earlier today) and I'm liking it so far but...

Let me start with a little background story, I'm 19, been smoking since I was 14 (I know.... I regret it every day) and I quit for a while but it was just too hard for me to not smoke on my breaks at work and in social situations so I never persevered and quit for good, I have come to terms that I like the act of smoking, so I'm making an effort to do it in a more conservative way.

So... I have read around this "halo" forum for a while and that has answered some of my questions but I have others.

1: Do I have to rest it upright, or can I lay it on it's side?

2: Should I hit it like a real cig, or should I hold it vertically to prevent leaking?

3: Do I have to fill it between 2.0 and 2.4 or is that just a suggestion (I put 2.4ml of tribeca in my tank to try it since everyone in my family smokes regs, but I smoke menthols, so now I'm stuck with a tank full of Tribeca) which leads me to my next question.

4: Is it okay to remove e-liquid from your tank and store it for later use? 4B: Has anyone taken the "nipple" off of their 3ml bottles? Is it possible? How did you do it? Could you refill it with the nipple still on? (seems spill prone)

5: This crackling noise is normal yes? some say yes, some say no, I'm just not sure

6: Is mixing liquids going to cause problems? It seems like they are made of the same thing, just different flavor, so I would assume, but I'm not going to "experiment" and possibly break my new hardware

I am for sure enjoying this, I smoked one cig today (It has made a noticeable difference to my attitude and my physical energy is up), and that was about an hour before my package showed up. I am craving a real cigarette right now, but I think I just want a 'menthol hit' more than the real cig. Other than that I can't really think of any additional questions at the moment, but if I think of something else I will ask later, this seems like a strong community so I can't wait to become part of it!!!!!

1. Tritons are great because you can rest them any way you want, but in general, upright is preferred.

2. You'll be learning the flip and twirl, to keep the wicks wet. You can vape it any way you want.

3. See #2: you can vape a tank dry, if you flip/twirl it correctly.

4. a) yes. b) yes. c) yes

5. Yes, it's normal.

6. Mixing flavors is fun!

If you're into Menthol, you might enjoy HX3, although it has a mint flavor, blended into its menthol tobacco taste.

How did you remove the nipples, I was going to try with my knife to pry it open but I didn't want a puddle on my floor

And I bought the tobacco and menthol sample packs, So I will try the HX3 although I don't care much for mint, (I smoke Marlboro Milds (well I did :2cool: )) it seems Kringle's is a direct imitation of Marlboro smooths, and yes .... Marlboro Milds (also known as blue menthol), I know not many people like them, but they are 'mine' (you guys know what I mean) and I am hoping I find something along those lines

I am already starting to master keeping the wicks thoroughly covered

And, upright? I figured, does anyone have some sort of homemade Triton 'ashtray'? (Like, something it fits into perfectly to keep it from falling around

How much do you guys vape a day (ml wise) and how do the amounts compare to a regular pack of 20?

Welcome Penguins17!! BigBen is absolutly right. If you like Menthols, you may like Kringle's Curse which taste like a cool candy cane or sub-zero which tastes like pure cool sinus clearing menthol (this is also good to mix with other flavors to give them a menthol kick). I was a menthol smoker but I don't really like the after dinner Mint flavor you get in some menthols, I like the cool refreshing clean taste of menthol.

Also to remove the "nipple" on the sampler bottle you'll have to get your fingernail underneath the lip edge and pry it apart. It goes back in easy too. Also you unscrew the mouthpiece be sure to check the head coil assembly is screwed on good and make sure the condom is pushed down. Sometimes with use these can become loose and you'll have juice leaking, so just always check and be sure everything is snug not over tight.

And I'm very proud of you for choosing to quit. I have 18 & 19 year old sons and I pray they never smoke. I'd hate for you or my sons to have a 25 year addiction to smoking like I did. Kick the habit while your young, if you think you regret smoking after 5 years, imagine the regret you'd have after 25 years. There is a learning curve but you did good starting with Halo. They have quality products, ejuice and great customer service. Drink plenty of water and if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask. Your taste buds will continue to change so you'll need to find a few flavors juice that you like.

Good luck to you in your vaping journey.

About the customer service thing... funny story here

I tried to go with the bluu brand of pv's but it wouldn't let me make an account because their age filter deemed I was a minor. So I contact customer service there and the guy tells me it was because I recently changed my name or moved (have done neither in my life). So then he tells me to call a credit checking company, and have them put me on file so i could order from them... Let's just say Bluu sold Halo's product for them.

And again, I dislike the minty menthol tastes as well, I am looking for a flavor similar to my Marb. Milds or Camel menthol lights. (the menthol silvers with the popable menthol bubble)

Also, thanks again for the help, I have only experienced one other online community that is as friendly, as active, and as helpful, and that is for an android game I help develop.

Welcome, Penguins17!

As far as laying down the triton - I do it all the time. I have NEVER had a leak. But, if you're nervous, that handy dandy sample kit you bought makes a great stand. There's even an extra hole in the middle - just pop out the foam plug and stand it in there. :)

As far as how much I vape a day, I'd say 6-10 ml. I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker and I work from home, so I constantly have my pv with me. But, I work on the computer and don't have it hanging out of my mouth while I type - too heavy and a sure way to crack the tip, so I'm not constantly vaping. :vapor:

BigBen answered all your other questions. As far as the juice, I agree with Evie - your tastes will likely change. I started with a tobacco sample pack as well as a gourmet one. I have since ordered more of the gourmet flavors as well as Voodoo - haven't even finished sampling the tobacco. I found with vaping my taste is different. Plus, I noticed that vaping flavors are more like the smell of sniffing an UNlit cigarette - the burnt taste of smoking isn't there, so it wasn't really matching for me, so just decided to develop different taste than trying to recreate the smoking experience, if that makes sense. You'll find your stride.

Firstly what is a B&M????

The only flavor I have tired so far is Tribeca, not sure if I like it because I don't have anything to compare it to. But, it doesn't have a desireable taste to my pallet, plus it leaves a really strong odor in the air and on my fingers.

Don't get me wrong, I know I'm not going to get juice that tastes like my real smokes do. I know there won't be that burnt tobacco taste that all cigarettes do. I'm trying to get a feel for what has a similar flavor and feel as what I'm used to.

And the smell of an unlit cig, have you ever noticed that a fresh opened pack always smells like mushrooms? Or is that just me?

B&M would be brick and mortar. More known as a smoke shop. A lot of smoke shops are carrying vape gear and juices. Halo has tons of resellers, there's a good chance there's one by you somewhere. I think there's a thread of resellers pinned to the top of the Halo forum.

Tribeca is good stuff! What kind of cigs did you smoke? Halo sells those sample packs, maybe give one of those a try.

Welcome to the Halo Nation Penguins! (we really need more penguins anyhow, but I digress)...

I too was a menthol choker, and smoked Marlboro smooths for the most part... never tried the blues though, but for the smooths, Id say to mix 1 part Kringles to 3 parts Mystic (or two parts Subzero... that stuff will clean out your sinuses fast!!) I tried HX3 (granted, it was the day it came in for me, so it had zero time to steep or mature) and wasn't too much of a fan. I'll have to try it again I think...

I've found that I vary between menthol concoctions (like the above mentioned KC/ Mystic) and the "sweeter" tobacco vapes (Tribecca, Prime (To me its sweet due to the nuttiness) and voodoo, though I almost hesitate to even call voodoo a tobacco vape!!!) Like BB said, mixing flavors can be really rewarding, just don't go too far overboard at first, as you can always add more, but its almost impossible to "lighten a flavor".

I'm glad that Blu did you the favor of avoiding their overpriced anemic cig-alikes! The G6 (Halo's mini cigalike) puts out way more of a vape, and nothing Blu makes will ever touch the ease of use or voluminous vape a triton can give.

I'm sure someone already might have mentioned it, but get backups for your triton (if you didn't get the starter kit, that is), a few spare tanks, some spare heads, and probably an extra charger if you haven't already. This early in the game, the last thin you want is to be craving nic and have a dead battery.

The triton tanks are easily cleaned with hot water, and you can extend the life of the heads by removing them and soaking in hot (not soapy) water, and then possibly hot water with those little denture cleaning tablets. Amanda can tell you more about that method, as I use the really REALLY cheap vodka method myself...

Pouring the juice back in (once you get the drip tip off the bottle is easy, and won't hurt the liquid in the least (in fact, with some flavors, it might help them to age/ steep a bit faster.

Stay strong, and hang in there... the next few days are generally the hardest, but don't kick yourself in the head if you DO have a smoke... just think of all the ones you AREN'T smoking. Mindset does wonders when quitting. We're all here to help, and we're all a big family here.

Once again, I'm so proud of my fellow Halons for helping out with answers and tips.

Penguins, we so often see nuubs looking for the one flavor they used to smoke and want to replicate in a vape. We smile. Cause we know there most likely won't be one flavor. I'm usually doing three throughout the day, Torque or Tribeca for the tobacco style, Malibu with Cocoa (never ever thought I'd like Coconut/pinapple pina colada with menthol, but it's my fav!) and then a sweeter style like VooDoo, or Ginger.

Get some distilled water to soak coils in, since you are too young to get vodka or Pure Grain Alcohol PGA.

You've taken the first coupla steps on a long fascinating journey. You'll find out and learn a lot of things. Just be open to the possibilities.

And don't overdo it the first few days. Stop if you get dizzy, you might have too much nic. It is ok to put it down for a few minutes!!!!

Welcome to the asylum we know and love as the Nation of Halon!
