Wow.. the douches are out in full force today huh? The OP was asking a pretty simple question. It may or may not be the device. But instead of giving any helpful advice, the fanboys defend their device to the bitter end and berate the OP in the process. That is petty and stupid.

It is obvious that the OP is not very technologically inclined and the only thing she knows is that the battery is connected to the Provari and the firing button to activate the vape is on the Provari, so with that in mind, she concluded that it may have been the mod that zapped her. Instead of gathering more information that would help out the new vaper, the fanboys in here do a quick PR campaign in the name of the Provari and Provape.

To those who helped her, good job.. to the rest.. I shake my head and am shamed...

berating for berating. lol feel better? :D

Ok - I checked the battery power at it said 3.5. I don't know anything about what I'm doing. I did drip it from the top. It could have been the juice popping. That may make more sense to me. I didn't hear any hissing or gurgling before I tried to vape it.

I read 'vivi nova' from someone elses response. We are really not sure what type of device you have on top of your Provari.

Edit: Seeing your using an atomizer it is time for me to bow out to more seasoned members. I have had NO luck with the 510 attys I have tried and can only learn with you from the responses you get :)

Do you have a dripping atomizer or it filled with a material that looks like cotton?

Its possible you didnt have enough juice in the atty and it popped. It can be a pretty frightening experience and IS kind of like an electric shock.

If it does have the filling inside try dripping juice inside until it looks slushy then wait a few minutes and add a few more drops until its slushy again.

TRy that and see if it helps.

Would also help if you posted the resistance of the atomizer...should be printed on the side of the box with a symbol that looks kind of like a horse shoe beside it.

Then let us know the voltage you have the Provari set at.you can see it by clicking the button on the Provari 5 times and then waiting a couple of seconds until it shows a number.

My opinion is that you shouldn't be messing around with such a device just yet. It is recommended that you use high quality batteries with any mod, and a high quality charger, and making sure they're not under or over charged requires attention and maintenance that may get neglected by a beginner vapor who lacks the knowledge required to take proper care of said aspects.

I'd recommend getting something simple like a Vision Spinner 1300 mah battery. You just charge it, and vape it. Its as simple as that. What tank/cartomizer/atomizer system are you using? The part that you screw onto your ProVari that holds the juice.

I'd not recommend that. simply because it's too late and doesn't solve the problem. that's like suggesting to someone to trade in their escalade for a civic because they don't know how to turn off the seat warmer. she already HAS the provari and going backwards doesn't make much sense...just needs to learn how to use it properly.

It says its 510D SR Black. I also have some that say 510DXXL SR Black. It has cotton looking stuff in it. My voltage is set at 3.1. I have thought about looking into an easier model. I really don't know what I'm doing.

Do they look like this?

url

Because if they do, and they are full of Cotton like Filler, you have what we all call a "Cartomizer". Or "Carto" for short.

I was thinking Corvette/Pinto but the idea is the same. Yes the Provari has a much steeper learning curve. But it is 'in hand' and more intimidating than difficult.

provape.com has the downloadable owner's manual. Read it, pay attention to the warnings. This is for safety.

Batteries/charger - same deal. Please read all the safety warnings. A lot depends on what type charger and batteries you have. We are hoping they sent you what you needed :)

One thing that might not be in there, always when replacing the battery the first 'hit' should be done with the unit AWAY from your face. It is not likely but is possible that a battery can be damaged during charging and the initial use after charge is when that damage could cause issue. Always test the fresh charged battery at arms length.

I don't have much more experience than you but I would get a different set-up all together for now, at least until either the manufacturer or authorized dealer looks at the provari. Almost sure it's not dangerous, but why risk it? When any electronic device malfunctions it could result in injury. Everyone here is convinced the provari is safe and manufacturer beyond reproach, however none of us know the history of the one you are using, you got it second hand I believe? Why take the chance? Every manufacturer has some defects.

And almost certainly an urban legend anyway.

Actually, in Grimm Green's review of the Vivi Nova he didn't report he was shocked, but his battery shorted out. He wasn't sure if the Vivi was the cause, but he felt it might be, so he said he didn't trust them. Whatever. I take the word of someone who"toots" with a grain of salt.

Schnoodle--I live in Columbia MD--just a short hop from Baltimore. If you want to get together somewhere, maybe I can help you out.

Trouble-shooting an advanced PV can be nearly impossible for an inexperienced vaper, and trying to do it on-line in a forum can be just as pointless.

Some face-to-face, hands-on tutoring with an experienced vaper who is interested in helping you (rather than being snarky on a forum) can go a long way to get you on the road to enjoyable and successful vaping!

I haven't been doing well with vaping. I keep trying a little each day. Today, I put a few drops in, let it sit for a few minutes, went to take a vape and got a horrible shock. Scared me, and gave me an instant headache. Not sure if I'll be able to make myself try again. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Just get a pro-vari... Oh wait...

Absolutely contact the vendor, they stand by their products and will help you.
