Just hemp

Hi jump hemp thread. I stumbled in here from some googling. This thread is pretty big. I was wondering if there is a preference between hemp...as in yarn style vs degummed hemp fiber? I forgot how I even found out about hemp but some readings make it look interesting. It seems like an upgrade to cotton in every way.

I hadn't gotten to the oxyclean recommendation but what I did was go with earlier steps. I washed a portion with dish soap by hand then rinsed and wringed out. I boiled the washed hemp twine in distilled water three times then blow dried some and left the rest out to dry. I tried a strand I blow dried in an RSST and it tasted very earthy and I did not have the patience to allow it to wait. I soaked the rest in some 50/50 pg/vg for 10 days then wringed out the twine and changed the liquid and soaked again for 7-10 days. I dried some over the weekend and pulled it out last night to give it a go with some fruity Rasberry juice my wife wanted to try.

For an Igo-W I wrapped 2 coils around 10 wraps with 28g kanthal on (I think) a 3/32nd drill bit which was wide enough for me to stick a piece of the 2mm wick inside, came out .78 ohms. In some areas of the twine it was tight and in some it was loose so I made sure the part I had inside the coil was loose. After setting it up similar to a dual coil cotton build I gave it a shot and was thoroughly impressed! I may have received one earthy hit and then everything else was warm and wet. It may have muted out the fruity flavor a tad, but that is better for me because I don't like fruit flavors except maybe a hint of strawberry mixed with something. I've really only used cotton on rebuildables so far (except one piece of cheap silica that came with a clone, which was great for 10 minutes and then horrible) and I haven't been terribly satisfied with the consistency and when I started looking up wicking materials I wanted to end up with either hemp or cotton. To me cotton is hit or miss.. I'll wick a coil and it'll hit fine for a day or so and then will get pretty harsh, probably due to the watts from sub ohming (but I've noticed the same thing in my Kayfun Lite Tobeco clone which I use on a VV/VW device, so maybe it's just the material or the way I'm building).

Anyways I just wanted to share what has started out so far as a success story. If the Igo-W continues to work great with this setup I'll try some other juices on it to make sure it works well with my more favorite desert flavors and migrate a couple of other devices over.

Have you tried sterile rolled cotton? To me it makes some juices taste a little different than others and seems to wick better than regular sterile cotton in some setups. I'll check out that etsy link. Thanks

Hey all... Has anyone found a US supplier selling the hemp fiber? Saw a few people bought the whole ounce and the cheapest I could find it for is 30 dollars once you factor in shipping, dont want to spend that much just to try it..
Bitvapors has it but they only accept Bitcoin or Dwola...
Tried hemp twine about a year ago and am now using cotton but it gives me a sore throat... If theres no supplier for a smaller amount, anyone willing to part with a little? I'd of course pay for shipping and some extra.... I could also trade for some XC 116..Thanks.

This is all i use in russian now. Takes a bit of prep but it wicks faster and last longer than cotton.

Nice to know that as they were out when i got some. Mine is fine but 'if' i ever run out i will get from them next time.

Thanks guys... It was the shipping that killed me with the second link- brought it to 30...
I boiled my sterile CVS rolled cotton last night and it seems better than it did before... May be getting sick too but really want to try the hemp... With that, I know there would be nothing to worry about

Well, reading through the posts it seems there's alot of people putting their gennys on the shelf....not me...so if any of you who've given up on gennys, have a steam turbine,or steam boy, or along those lines sitting around collecting dust...drop me a note.

Some where in this thread several of us tried and tested hemp silver. It did not match the twine and much less the fiber.

I guess you have been at this too long, when you have retired over 50 genisis and don't know what a steam turbine or a steam boy is. Getting old I guess. Four years ago I knew every vaping model...
