I have had a few inquire about my hemp TGT build. So I finally remembered to take pictures this morning when I rewicked. I vary the number of stands depending on the air tube I'm using and my mood, but its usually 8-10 thru the coil and 18-20 total.

This build was on my authentic TGT with 1.2mm air tube.
29g Kanthal, 9 wraps around a 16g hypo needle (~1.6mm) for ~1.5ohms, 9 stands (3 of the 12 removed) thru the coil, 9 strands on top of each side of the coil
Good to go for several days of heavy use and takes very little time to setup

hi bap !
are you using oxy clean or just boiling ? I saw it mentiend by some one ...is that the stuff used in laundry ?
also for the hemp twine from hobby lobby .. any comments on that ? in your build you said strands on the sides ? packed in ?
looking forward to use the fiber .

I use hemp fiber on russian 91 with a vert coil. Sometimes when the coil pops from the juice it makes the hemp go over the coil hole therefor cutting off air coming inside the coil, and i flood. Yes hemp is all around the coil from side to side. What would you all suggest to fix this. Thank You. ps i will take a pic if it happens with this build.

I have been using vertical coils (all air thru the coil) with hemp fiber for a few months and have had to learn a new way to draw. First, all well made coils heat up from the center out, that is why the dragon coils shoot vapor out both ends. So on a vertical if you fire before drawing, you shoot vapor and condensation down into the air camber and air hole. Now I start to draw before firing the coil and have reduced leaking and condensation to a minimum. With the gennies and the Ao lag, I had gotten accustomed to firing a second before drawing, and that was not so good on the vertical.:)

BTW, I try to leave the last wrap of coil above the hemp. This reduces the chance of the hemp swelling and covering the air path.

thanks bj and all chiming in !
having to much funn building boxes...got to get back to attys !
will try the drawing tecniqe ...makes sense ...might solve some problems I am having with vertical builds !
will pick up some oxyclean to day and cook some hemp fiber soup . don't know if I am going to use rope ...twisted fiber will do for experimenting for now. got one kilo ... eiks ...
which do you prefere horizontal or vertical ? are we having funn jet ?

I have only been using vertical the last few months. Waiting to see a mamu .8 ohm dual. She says it is her favorite, wet and juicy, and I am into that.:D

The boxes and golf have kept me busy but I have some new wick fiber arriving today that I am anxious to try and lab test.:)

This last build i did make the coil above the hemp, and i am like you was use to a genny. Will try to draw first then hit the power. Thanks and so far this build is working great. Think the coil above the hemp helps alot. Thanks man!!

Just set up a double in a TGT dual 10 wraps of 30g gave me 1ohm. fiber hemp thru the coils and flavor fiber wicks over the top of the coils. I have to say it is the first dual coil that has impressed me. WOW monster wet juicy flavor at 17 watts.:D

Are the coils side-by-side vertical?

Those vises are handy - mine came in last week. Very nice 'tip' from Mike about them.

Something new to play with.:)

"The long, fine ramie fibers are naturally white and lustrous with an almost silky appearance. It is a cellulosic substance as is cotton, linen and other plant fibers. The inner structure of ramie differs from the other plant fibers in that the physical form of the cellulose is rigid and crystalline like linen but is a more porous sieve-like form providing it with even better absorbency than other cellulose fibers."

4 oz of Ramie..

Set up TGT, dual 30g 10 wrap coils 1ohm. Ramie wicks thru the coils and a Ramie flavor wick over the coils. Ends trimmed to stick out 2mm.
I am vaping it at 3.6 v 13 watts, to break in. All I can say is excellent flavor and vapor. No strange flavor added, very clean and it was washed and boil.d but not oxicleaned yet. Now to see how it does at higher wattage and durability.:)

Dual coils

Heating up nice.

Ramie wicks.

Nice find BJ :thumb:

I wondered if anything could unseat hemp as the champion wick for you :D

Did a lot of research on absorption and adsorption. Very different. Ramie is the best in both of all the organic fibers, slightly better in absorption than hemp and quite a bit better in adsorption. Both hemp and ramie are superior to cotton. Both hemp and ramie handle high heat better than cotton. Last test on the ramie is to see its durability.:)
