All the lab tests done several years ago showed that over 90% of the air goes directly up from the inside of the airhole to the mouthpiece. Test were done in a lab with clear caps and colored smoke drawn thru the side airhole. There is a large aerodynamic difference between blowing air thru a small hole into an atmospherically balanced chamber and sucking air into a vacuum chamber where the suction is 90 degrees above the inlet. My point was not that hollow coils don't work, just that vertical has no advantage on a horizontal unless on a below the coil inlet that you can actually flow all the air thru the coil.

I use horizontal hollow coils on all my drippers with hemp fiber and they work great, but IMO the only thing that can compare to sub ohm vaper is a vertical at high wattage. I personally consider sub ohm on mechanical just to much of a hassle for all day use.
