if you are really after that elusive Cisco taste/clean vape that can go all day, you need to look into a REO or a VMod. These are bottom feeders, that use a Cisco atty.

I was actually going to suggest that, too. Many of us who can't deal with tanks and clearos and carto batting just went in that direction early on.

But the anticipation of 33 paragraphs of "adventures in squonking" made me feel a little scared...........might throw some of us over the edge yonder in Reoville.

Everyone and their grandma told me to try cartotanks, so I did!

Now, I actually don't know what ohm's I'm vaping on at the moment, and I'm not so sure that either of these cartos were primed to the best of standards, but the flavor is not to bad. The chocolate one is barely producing a wisp of vapor though. Good flavor, just something's wrong with it.

I dunno. I'm vaping on the carto tanks with the same juice I got the bad results with on the Flux (a 18mg juice) and while it is a throat-drying juice, there really is a major difference between the Flux result and the Carto result. The Flux simply is a dusty vape. I couldn't begin to describe it in any other way, and it tastes like singed socks. The carto tank is more along the lines of Imperial Hookah's disposables. They're almost exactly the same in performance and flavor.

With the REO, is there any reason I couldn't get the full on Cisco experience with just a dripping RDA first, to see if RDA'ing is what really can deliver that? I'd stick with Cisco, but their mess is too hard to clean for me, I have to really see what I'm doing!

And I just wanted some devices to hold me over for tonight. I'm coming back to the shop in a couple days and we're going to be starting the RDA stuff.

Concur with thrasher. I was very frustrated with ce4s vivi novas, and carto tanks, and it was really my fault, I loved vaping so much, I would hit it hard on every breath! I would flood the cartos with too much suction, and run the others dry, the silica couldn't keep up. Even when I went to dripping on micros in cotton, I would have to re drip every couple of hits. The reo is what finally worked for me. Hit, squonk, repeat. I am not pushing devices, you understand, just supporting the idea that pre-manufactured attys can't keep up with the way some of us would like to vape. Then we lower the ohms, crank up the heat, and make the problem worse!

Remember, I'm playing catch up here, I haven't been around for all of the earlier information so I wasn't aware of the problems you were having with polyfill and silica.
My reasoning for suggesting a bottom feeder is you do NOT have any filling in it of any sort! Just the mesh around the coil and the coil, that's it! Nothing to impair your sense of taste, nothing "floating around", no silica dust to irritate your throat, etc.

No. Bottom feeders just making dripping "automatic", meaning you don't have to sit there with a bottle and drip it into the top.

IF the dripping into RDA does end up working for you, then a REO would be your unicorn.

So, let's wait and see how you like dripping/RDA.

Where's your sense of adventure?:laugh::laugh:

I will be right there, behind ya, Saw, when you bring him over to the REO area, right there to give you ALL THE CREDIT for bringing over a new user. ;)

I'll probably be trying out all sorts of stuff from now on - this guy at the local shop, trust me, he's the guy. I couldn't have met anyone better. Great guy, he really was.

Just to explain my journey - to me, there's a certain standard in vaping. There's a low point, a mid-point, and a high-point. In common sense terms, and with experience, one would think the normal experience is for CE4's to possibly taste a little wicky or metallic, for many bottom-coil devices to taste this way too, for disposables and carto-tanks to taste a little cleaner, and for high-end things like Cisco's atties and RDA'ing to be the cream of the crop. With experience, I could come to terms with that.

What I do not approximate with though is the hell point. Where everything you vape tastes like you used a dirty sock as a wick. I've gotten that from Protank heads, Smoktech heads, countless disposable devices, didn't get it with the EVOD samples, got it with multiple off-brand 510 drippers, didn't get it with the Cisco, didn't get it with dude's RDA, and these carto tanks, I'm currently reviewing them and so far, the review is mid-point at best, they're not holding up so particular well with some real vaping going on, nor is the flavor even really decent in terms of what juice can do.

I've just had a curse in the vaping world, and I dunno what it is. If I can sit there and vape EVOD's til the cows come home and get a "decent" result, or the same with any shop's cheaper samplers, then I'm not the one with a draw problem... it has to be a manufacturing issue.

And the Aspire is in a category all on it's own, that device is just bizarre. It's the voodoo of vaping. I can't even properly explain why that device gave me the flavors it did, but that device was insane. I'm particularly emotional toward the Aspire because the Aspire produces a softer vapor, more vapor, and thicker vapor than any product on the market right now, but the flavors it produced, they were the strangest sensations I've probably gotten. VCV's Caramel Swirl tasted just like sea salt in it, it was soft and smooth, but salty tasting.

I emailed them and there's not supposed to be any salt layer to the caramel! Mystery vaping. Other than that, if someone could sort out why the Aspire makes juices taste like they're from alien planets or other parts of our ecosystem, then that device would be the best product on the market. By all other tests, that device is golden. The flavors it indeed gave me were even some of the best I had up until that point. But I'd rather not vape salt. I need a caramel juice to taste like caramel!

Whatever kink the Aspire has, Cisco has figured it out. The Aspire heads and the Cisco atties are like direct cousins. They're related by %75. Even the flavors are just as "strong". Yet, in the Aspire, things taste strong, yet wack, and in the Cisco, they taste heavenly. Both devices though produce that silky, moist, nimbus cloud of vapor that I love too, and geez, I just want Aspire to get their mess straight! They'd have such a great set of devices for our community if so! If Aspire would just fix the kinds, I'd honestly say a lot of REO'ers and RDA'ers would be impressed. It's a cloud machine! Just, for whatever reason, the flavor on that thing is wack.

Oh, sorry about Aspire ramble, but geez, I want the Aspire to work. Aspire would literally be the king of disposable devices if they didn't taste like a mystery meat Thursday. It just tee's me! It's as annoying as being attracted to someone who doesn't like you back! I see the potential in their heads and they do have something solved that Kanger heads never figured out, just, they need to work on their product badly IMO.

.... guess I could always wait a couple months and try their heads again. I do trust Phil and I think he did get a great result out the Aspire, and I'm hoping whoever runs Aspire will eventually run out of the initial production heads and have to make some more that actually work.

I think we may have been on the journey to ALL those places with you so far. ;) I really hope we don't have to accompany you to that last part though.....I'm inclined to say that for that leg, you're on your own. :)

Evods are very nice clearos. A lot of people find happiness with them.

Everyone and their grandma told me to try cartotanks, so I did!

That is because they are using tube mods. Or box mods with 510 connections. When I started vaping, not ONE person suggested a bottom feeder to me. I can go back to my original first posts ... at that time they were for some reason considered "advanced". After I took everybody's advice (carto inside tank, cartos, clearos on Ego Twist, which had JUST come out that month) three weeks later I had my first bottom feeder. Cuz I simply could not go on like I was going. Of course, I think a lot of the stuff has improved since then. Vivi Novas weren't even popular yet and the ego twist had just burst onto the scene as the "game changer". :)

If you were around when all people had was non VV unregulated batts and were stuffing fish aquarium foam into cartos, I think you'd be in a padded cell by now. :)

Just a couple of points of contention,
I have, and continue to say that I've never met a clearomizer that I've liked! IMO clearomizers suck!
The "joy" you describe with certain cig-alikes came from a cartomizer, no different than a carto tank, the tank just holds more juce. I loved carto tanks for the longest time, until I tried some of Mad Murdocks 710 in a Genesis. It was over for me at that point! There are too many nuances in this juice that the carto tank just muted out for me. I had to drip it or have it on a Genny, neither of which travel well! Then I found the Kayfun Lite clones and it's a happy medium for me. It travels well and doesn't mute the juice to badly. But it's a compromise at best.
I suggested the carto tank before I knew you had had issues with poly fill, I was of the understanding it was a problem with silica alone, for that I am sorry.
But if you keep after the RDA you will have to find some sort of wick material that works for you. As you have tried everything I can think of, other than the ceramic rope, I've no idea what to tell you on that front!

Ok, wow. I just finished reading this whole thread almost entirely from start to finish. Have no history behind OP's origins in posting (as some seem to elude to) but.....

I have to ask....

Why has nobody recommended lifting the center pin on his OHM CHECKER? Or am I wrong in assuming it is a combo 510/eGo threaded device like this:

20140109_215500.jpg

When mine first arrived, it was waaaaaayyyy off, compared to readings I was getting with my eVic, and then I remembered the center pin trick on the eVic. Tried it, and now it reads at least as accurately as my eVic.

Just my +/- .02 worth, please don't crucify the noob.

Oh nah, don't be sorry, the carto tanks were also simply for review and something to try out. They do taste pretty clean, that is for sure - it's the same general cleanliness (or maybe slightly worse) than what I have gotten from some of the best disposable e-cigs.

However, the juice is dang muted. Extremely muted. Now, it's not muted in a way where it sours up the juice and turns it funky and like shoe polish (gotten that seperate weird result from the Aspire, a couple CE4's, ect ect), but it's just a very, very light flavor, more like the cotton-candy strength flavor I get from the Protank when it's at its best. It's just very weak. OK amount of vapor (well, not on the faulty one). These cartos are a bit of proof that other devices are indeed worse.

*PMCode what the fudge, why didn't I think of that? LOL that is such a brilliant idea yet not once did it spark in my mind! How could I miss that!?!? I'm gonna try it!

I've been on the job site where they're installing insulation and having a sawdust party, this is worse than breathing that mess in. You can feel that mess in the air when you walk into that, and I feel this in my vape!

Uh... Stupid question... How often do you visit these job sites? What is your daily work environment like? I wonder if vaping is just stirring something up in your sinuses or something when you get home.

Oh nah I don't work construction, my father did, I don't have the health for it... I was just raised around it.

Surprisingly enough, being exposed to all that mess wasn't harmful to my breathing in the least, as a child. I had the best set of lungs ever was, before smoking. Just, I knew what the experiences tasted and felt like.

Anyway, ya'll read the post above this, fixed the ohm checker!!!

I have something to add about the VCV filled Fluxo too - it sat 24 hours, the insides flooded, the wick got soaked to heck, and it's tasting great! Feeling great! Sadly, while VCV's juice will soak a wick if it sits awhile, it's not thin enough to keep up that performance for more than a couple minutes. VCV's juice is a coil tamer, but it still is a bit too thick.

The Fluxo, while flooded with VCV, was producing PLUMES of soft, clean, flavorful vaper. As soon as it dried up a little from vaping, and began to make the slightest of noises, it started vaping badly. Personally, my opinion, without a doubt, is that atomizers shouldn't crack and pop - it seems to correlate with degradation triplefold.

Edit: Wow, this little fluxo though, specifically with VCV juice, actually tastes pretty darn fine and clean, it's a darn cloud machine, this thing is putting out RDA clouds! Almost as much as the Aspire! (Even more than the Cisco). Flavor's not all there, but geez, this thing has revived after a 24-hour soak!

Ohm checker fixed. 2.78 on the Fluxos. Thank you so much pmcode!

*shame on you forum folk for not telling me to do that, you guys shoulda thought of that as much as I should have.*

:p

You are very welcome, and good luck in your future vaping endeavors. But, like I said in my earlier post, I only thought of it because the eVic has an apparently known issue with a sh!tty center pin, thus the need for the lifting of the pin. The eVic is certainly not the most popular vv/vw device, and you can't really RBA/RDA with it (limited wattage), so most of the people in this sub-forum probably don't even own one, or have moved on from it. I just started "dipping my toes" into the whole mech/RBA world, hence why I remembered it.

If you think that other juices can taste like Mad Murdock's, you are going to be chasing that dragon for a long time...
In my opinion, no one, absolutely no one, can layer flavors on top of each other like Murdock can. 710, Radiator Pluid, Maha Ras, Agent Orange, and Mellow Melange - nothing comes close. I've vaped over 150ml of 710, and still can't even begin to say what I think is in it. 200 ml of Maha Ras. Same thing.

Yeah, I got to live through that era as well! I remember what a game changer the "Chuck" was, a mod you could actually get, if you didn't mind waiting a month or two!

Nope, not chasing any dragon other than catching Vapingwatch when they have the large bottles of 710 in! It's seriously all I vape any more! I went through 30ml like nothing, then went to 115ml and am 1/4 way through the second 115ml so far! Then these Kayfun clones aren't helping, I'm not sure exactly how much they hold, but I'm blowing through at least two tanks a day!
