Missouri...or the state of Misery.
So, I'm sure this is moving well past an introduction post and into a "Help me hurrdurr" thread. So far I've looked at the innokin Cool Fire IV Plus starter kit(Innokin Cool Fire IV Plus Starter Kit) and the smok Micro One TC starter kit (Smok Micro One TC Starter Kit) as well as a few others and run into the "THIS IS FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY" warnings. How advanced and does it take a great amount of time to learn to correctly use one of the advanced ones?

Another one that caught my eye using the VapeCrawler site was Eleaf iStick TC40W ($39.75 Authentic Eleaf iStick TC40W 2600mAh Variable Wattage APV Mod w/ GS-Tank Clearomizer - 1-40W / 100-315'C/200-600'F / 3ml / 0.15ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping).
As of right now, I would prefer it to have an internal battery. I love the price of the Eleaf iStick from fasttech.com. It's half what I paid for the EVOD starter I returned.

I have a Cool Fire IV and the Eleaf iStick....both are dummy friendly to use or I wouldn't have them lol! The "advanced users only" warning is for the temp control part of the mod. I've never even tried the temp control and run both of mine on wattage mode always.

I hope it gets to you.

I've never used temp control so I can't advise on that. I know that the .15 ohm coils that come with the GS Tank can only be used in temp mode.

If you use the 1.5 ohm coils you will need to use in watts mode. The basic rule is to start low and work your way up. I run the 1.5 ohm coils in my GS Tank at about 17 watts.

Here's a PBusardo video that might help you understand a little better.

EVODs (original type) can be quite good (ejuice flavor dependent, like all devices), but to be justified needs to be cheap because shouldn't be your main device, unless you're really poor and that's all you can get. I usually pay $8-10 for generic EVOD VV starter kits and $2 for clearomizers. If at the price of larger devices, their main justification is only small size. The chargers can be a pain (even when not defective) because some don't work with some batteries and they tend to all look the same.

RabidPatrick, congrats on starting your vaping journey. I smoked for THIRTY years and have not lit up once in over 2.5 years. You can do it. Lots of helpful folks here on ECF to help you.

I was hoping to not buy anymore but it looks like one more pack is required to make it until Monday. The help is very much appreciated and the support is going to be a huge help in these next few months for me!

Absolutely, I'll be looking for deals constantly. It seems like people have a few pens and a couple go to ones as well. Looks like getting a few chargers is almost a requirement.

Hi, RabidPatrick, and welcome! Once your vapemail arrives from Rocky Mountain (a great vendor, btw!), and assuming you like it, consider buying a second one. One of the tricks to successfully transitioning to vaping is always, always, always have a charged mod ready to go. That way, if the urge to smoke hits while your mod is being charged, you have a back up. If your mod breaks, you have a back up. If a friend "borrows" your gear, you have a back up :). The other trick is to start at a nicotine level (with a juice you really like) that works for you. You can do this! Best of luck!

It came in and it is working awesome so far! Thanks for all the help in getting me my first true set-up! Couldn't have done it without you all. Well I could have, it just would have been another purchasing mistake!

    Many thanks!

Yay! Glad you got a good setup! Enjoy your vaping adventure! Congrats! Oh, and if i have not said it yet; Welcome to ECF :)

For smoking like feel I second the Nautilus Mini 1.8ohm coils.

If you want to try a recommendation, I mix Space Jam 'Eclipse' which is too thick for the nautilus mini for my tastes (I prefer high VG for sub ohm) with Hangsen RY4 80PG/20VG.

My perfect tobacco flavour MTL vape! nothing else goes in my nauti mini but that blend.

I started with EVODs but had to hotbox the hell out of it to get satisfied.

A nautilus mini with an i-stick or CF4 is worlds apart, much higher quality vape.
