Good on you, tnt, good on you!

I feel your pain. Where I work, we have a serious shortage of Vision wicks. (And by shortage, I mean none!) There's a host of reasons as to why shipments are back ordered, so our hands our tied. The reality is, we are pretty much at the mercy of our suppliers, but that means nothing to the person who wants that product! I totally get their frustration. Most people are pretty good about it and we try to do what we can to keep them afloat. Some folks just don't want that cartomizer to hold them off! Same with juices....I ran out of a flavoring I use in a tobacco vape and was supposed to get the order yesterday. Today, I bobbed and weaved and did the dance..."how about a nice RY4?" Or the person that came in with a few drops of Halo juice today and said "can you recreate this? My shipment is delayed!" I'm thinking "Sure, I'll get right on recreating what some consider the holy grail of tobacco vapes!" But I smiled, told them that might not be an option and worked on an good tasting juice, which thankfully, they liked (We labelled it 'Back Order' and had a chuckle.) I always try to do what I can to keep people going...I loaned a battery to one guy, and like, you, have even put out a few dollars to keep someone from smoking.
I try to concentrate on the good folks that come in and ignore the ones that are the very definition of rude.(By that I mean, not focus on their rudeness...which is....challenging at times!) It takes all types...

It's been interesting being on both sides of the fence, now...and I totally get your frustration!

That's so funny at the moment. I've been a fan of RY4 since I started vaping. I got lots of RY4 but not many like it. We ran out of fire&ice and came up with a flo/ice. So yea I can understand trying to make the customer happy. Fill a tank for free, or give em a 5ml bottle for their inconvience. It's what make a fair business a Great business. We try. I got a lot of customers that ask for me by name and I bend over backwards to please them. (cause they bring in more business). Name of the game. I work with people that can create just about anything I can give em. I've had em get really really close to HHV shadow. But just not the same. But I tell em it's close but not quite right.

Jeez.

At that point, I'd let her friend just buy a pack of cigarettes. It's a kind gesture that deserves some appreciation, not mooching.

Truth is it all depends on how you look at it. If I can help, then I will. If i'm unable to help then I can't. If I refuse when I can but won't, then what does that make me?

Most members and mods already know me. They know that sometimes I just need to vent to other people that understand.
(so as not to break the rules of ECF) I was at work the other day. A person that I know came in wanting some vision nova wicks. We've been out for a really long time. Shipments are not being delivered. I don't know why cause I don't do the purchase just the tech stuff (what I've learned from ECF and all my family here. Thanks again for all the help).
She said that she was going to have to go buy a pack of cigarettes cause she didn't have the money for a new clearo. I told her what they cost and she was a bit short of cash. I pulled the money out of my own pocket to help her out. I didn't want to see someone else fail. It wasn't a lot of cash and we also have a PIF box at the counter. Her response was a shock! She took my money and then ask her friend if she could have some money so she could buy the most expensive clearo we have.
Never a thank you or anything. I filled her clearo with her favorite juice for free, (cause that's the way I am).
But couldn't you just say thank you? But at least I did sleep a bit last night and hope to have a full night sleep this night.
Ok vent over. Hope everyone is well and vaping happy.

Good stuff right there, brother. Like someone said earlier, good karma. Nevermind her reaction, after the fact. You did your good deed and that's all that matters in the end. If I give a bum some cash and he uses it to overdose, that ain't my fault. You do what you can when you can and let god sort out the rest, imo.

This. Bob Dylan once said: Never refuse a starving man a cigarette., which is another way of saying the same thing. We can only make a decision to do whatever it is we do, but we can't control the outcome, other peoples' reactions, or single-highhandedly redesign our action's impact on the world.

If you extend an act of generosity, it's best to do so without any expectations of how this act is received. You've done your part, and that's all that matters.

That's why some people will buy food or pay bills for someone instead of giving cash. It's no guarantee that you won't be taken advantage of. But, it does make you FEEL less taken advantage of.

Besides, you never know what good may come of what you did. That woman may never go back to cigarettes because of you and someday remember you as the person that made the difference. If not, someone that sees her using that fancy hardware she bought may come in to your store and start vaping because of you.

You just never know!
