LOL
One example of "battery guru" falsities.
I don't know how this forum has come to accept it's "battery experts" aside from Mooch.
I'll let you in on a little secret.
Where resting
batteries precautions mostly came from.
When remote control hobby level vehicles started accepting battery power they were still running nickel cadmium
batteries.
At RC meets and competitions some guys would charge their
batteries too fast on purpose to keep up with the end of meet races instead of buying enough batteries to last the meet.
On top of that, they would purposely over charge them to gain an edge in the hole shot, free them from the pack and allow more maneuverability instead of just trying to avoid a crash through the first couple turns.
This was a huge advantage.
But the batteries came off the charger HOT! SCALDING HOT!
Hence "hot off the charger". (Abused in every way possible)
This heat also lowered the internal resistance through the race and allowed the electrons to flow faster and more freely resulting in a faster car throughout the race until the batt died.
Then they put them directly into vehicles that demanded more current then they could output. Further abuse.... torture... HEAT...
Unlike lithium chemistry batteries that VENT releasing hot gasses, some of these ni-cad batteries ACTUALLY exploded.
Some guys recount seeing at least one explode on average at every meet until the advent of lithium cells.
So RESTING BATTERIES IS LITERALLY A PRECAUTION SO THEY DON'T COME HOT OFF THE CHARGER. (SCALDING HOT... CLOSE TO 200 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT OR BETTER)
ALL my personal batteries come "hot" (directly... not actually hot) off the charger and into use every cycle.
This includes "dangerous" Li-Po batteries I pull 180 amp peaks from, charge at 30 amps and allow my young children to play with.
My car batteries.
My AA and AAA rechargeables.
The batteries in my truck.
The batteries in the kids power wheels, tablets, netbooks and laptops.
The batteries in our phones.
Etc. All chemistries.
3 batteries in this alone...
Mod batteries? Gimme a break...
If it's noticeably warmer than room temperature, give it a rest.
Don't use it chain vaping above its CDR.
Hole in the wrapper, rewrap it.
Not performing well anymore, replace it.
It really IS that simple most of the time.
A 5000mah, 3s Li-Po I rewired to 2s and later disassembled...
Charging 2s packs @ 25 amps...
