I actually think this whole article is a bit of a stretch, frankly.

I have never associated "making a switch" with smoking cessation, maybe I've seen too many tobacco ads going on about switching from one brand to another.

Also, if Juul has the legal right to advertise, which apparently it does, I see no reason for it NOT to advertise.

I don't think the Juul is responsible for every terrible ecig thing that has happened either. Etc.

I don't think JUUL is responsible for every terrible ecig thing that has happened, but I think they're responsible for a lot. I think every vaper should be aware of JUUL's stance on flavors since teaming up with Altria, owner of the Marlboro brand. As noted in the blog post, in a presentation given by Altria to a roomful of financial analysts, the CEO of Altria said that, along with JUUL, they intend to:

Encourage FDA to take industry-wide action by banning retail and vape store sales of all non-traditional flavors until the youth issue is otherwise addressed, such as by the use of advanced age verification technology or premarket authorization.

If Altria and JUUL were genuinely concerned about addressing "the youth issue," a problem they largely created, instead of pushing to take flavors away from every adult vapor in the country, perhaps they would be better advised to take a look at the graphic you'll find in the blog post produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It points the finger at advertising as being a driver of youth vaping. It seems obvious to me that what they really care about is not "the youth issue" but their bottom line--and using the FDA as a tool to knock out their competition.

I have only two points about all this fuss:

1. Thanks God I don't live in US. Even Brazil in Bolsonaro Era seems to be less intrusive in my particular life and chooses.

2. I don't have any intention to ever buy any product labeled by JUUL. This brand brought too many fuss against vape in all around the world, even being essentially a US phenomenon. And Altria owning 35% of it absolutely doesn't help.

For me vaping is one thing, JUUL is another completely different animal. And it's marketing strategies are so incredibly near to that big tobacco companies strategies (I'm 36, I still remember that big 80's campaigns) that it only makes me averse to the brand.

Waiting for the next chapter...

It has been a harsh blow to my natural optimism, my trust in the system, to watch this unfold, GOMuniEsq. I started my business because I was just OVERJOYED to finally be able to leave cigarettes behind and I wanted to bring this wonderful new invention to as many people as I could. To see the way things have played out and continue to play out...well, it's been tough!
