Hi all.

I've used quite a few tanks over the last year with varying levels of satisfaction but I'm looking to get either a protank mini 2 or 3.

I'm not a major vapor but I use it when I'm sat around. Im currently using a CE4/5 but the wicks seem to only last a week (burning usually). tanks with a similar wick to the protank 1/2, last about a month but leak a lot (as they use a cheap plastic tank/glue) and seem to be more 'cleanable' too.

So my question.

Is there much if an advantage getting of getting a v3 over v2 The only real difference I can see is that it's dual coiled.

Regards
MF

I started with a mini protank 2, then bought a mini protank 3. Vapor is not bad and they fit the ego batteries nicely. I found they will leak a little bit onto the battery and flood at least once a day. Between the wife and I we've broken 4 glass bits in 3 weeks just screwing them together. The 1.5ml tank is a little annoying. To add to the troubles, coils at the local shop are $12/5, and the new improved coils can't be rebuilt.

I put in an order yesterday for 2 of the kayfun mini clones ($24 each) and 100 premade 1.8ohm coils ($7) from fasttech that should last the two of us about 2 years. That's abotu how much we spent on the mini protank 2s and 3s, extra glasses, and a month worth of coils.

For what its worth, we really noticed no difference between the mini protank 2 and 3 other than the shape of the top cap and drip tips, and the coils for the mpt3 are more expensive.

I have both a mini protank 2 and a mini protank 3. There are 2 major differences, the first being that the pt2 takes single coils and the pt3 takes dual. The other difference is aesthetic. The pt3 is a little more "angular" in my opinion. Look wise, I personally prefer the pt3 (feels more modern to me). That said, I much prefer the pt2 for performance. I think the vapor is better, the single coil is easier to clean and dry burn, and it seems to have a tighter draw than the pt3.

Just my humble opinion.

I prefer my MPT2 over my MPT3 slightly. I don't think the dual coils are worth the extra juice or money. I just use single coils in the MPT3 now. I would recommend drilling out the air holes in the base to 1/16th on either one though.

+1

Doing as Joesquid says: I started doing this a few weeks ago. I have two MPT3s that I had shelved until I figured out the little tricks to make them better. Drill out the holes about 2x their stock size, and rebuild the dual coil heads with a single coil and cotton wick with a good amount of flavor wick to fill up that big chamber. Makes a world of difference. 1.5ohm coils seem to be the sweet spot with mine. Yes, the 1.5ml tanks drain fast with that warm a burn, but man, the vape is awesome. I don't even get any leaking.

Also, you can use standard generic single coil head cartridges in the MPT3 as well, just have to add an extra (inverted) rubber boot to the chimney to seal it. I don't have a MPT2, but I do have a PT2 clone that came with a kit I got a while back. Once I drilled out the air holes on the MPT3 and started building my own coils with cotton, the MPT3s sometimes out perform the standard PT2. Takes a bit of experimenting with the amount of sicking material to use, in my opinion, before you find that balance between taste and vapor. If it gurgles or leaks, add a little cotton. If you get dry hits, remove some. Also depends on your juice. 50-50 seems to be a perfect blend in my kanger-type coils no matter what carrier I use them in.

Dampmaskin: You're totally right... Sometimes it just comes down to what you already have. LOL. If I knew what I know now back then, I would have bought Aerotanks.

But many (like me) like to tinker and mod their stock stuff. Now, I'm happy enough with the MPT3s that I don't have to buy another clearomizer for a while. I will buy more, of course, because there's a certain fever to this hobby. But I have everything I need to stay off the ciggies right now. I'm sue others can relate.
