Yes and no. I was really surprised myself to have a wick work for a week with no issues besides rinsing off occasionally. If you cover at least one airhole (inside or outside I'm assuming), the suction is sucking juice into the wick and keeps it wet enough to protect it.

I have noticed that 4.2v with a 1.8 head can burn the cotton a little if I'm not careful, but 3.7v w/ a 1.8=Heaven. Rinse it off in a few days and it's pure white.

Hmm did you just buy cotton wicks premade somewhere or do you like rip up old tshirts??? noob question i know but be gentle

A favorite cotton source is from walmart yarn, Peaches & Cream. Boil for 10 or 20 minutes before using. Many use women's cotton make-up pads & cut into strips. I use butchers twine. Some roll cotton balls up. Others use rolled up cheesecloth. Best deals on grade A kanthal wire is from ebay, $8-$9 for a 100' spool. I haven't rewicked either of my protanks yet, they're new, but have been rewicking my vivas for quite a while.

Haha I would probably be crazy enough to use a t-shirt if I absolutely HAD to. Cigarettes taste gross now.

I'm using cotton balls from walgreens right now. I'm normally an OCD perfectionist, and didn't like the thought of a wick that wasn't uniform, but you can make a nice looking wick from a raw cotton ball.

I want to look into the strings and yarns though, because I honestly think this is letting a lot more nic through the wick.

Has anyone who has used cottonball or SS mesh noticed any differences in effects? It might just be this ridiculous barely labeled juice from a tobacco shop.

Socket, see we're neighbors :)
I wouldn't trust any juice from any local tobacco shop ... I've tried a few bottles when I first starting vaping, threw them out once my orders from known good suppliers came in the mail. Their nic content was way way higher than what the bottle said, made me dizzy it was so high.

Not sure how well a 3 mm cotton wick would do with 100% VG.

If I vaped grease...I mean "Juice" that thick I'd likely go with 2 mm cotton.

PG is antimicrobial and actually GOOD for your lungs and body. Hospitals sanitize the air with PG.....no idea why folks vape 100% vg...kinda nasty

SOme folks have bad reactions to PG and have no choice but to go the VG route. Its far better than stinkies.

I am finding I like 60 PG to 40 VG ratios for that reason. I was never a big fan of TH or hot smoke when I was a smoker.

i have found that now i am completely over smoking and am an avid vapor, i do not care for th at all. i cared about it when i was still smoking and first started vaping, but now i just want to enjoy my juice without being punched in the throat

Yeah, I tried that too and found out it was better to use my dropper to fill the syringe first, add the tip, and then fill the carto. I still love VG juice.

I use an 18 gauge blunt, works, but still slow. Read where others have nuked the VG in the micro for a few seconds, makes it easier. I'll have to try that.

Same here. I'll try it with a few teaspoons, see what happens. Be sleeping on the couch for quite a while if a whole bottle exploded in the micro 8-o

Nuked a couple of bottles of juice when I was trying speed up steeping time. Juice heats up about the same as water. Just use short time intervals like 5-10 seconds and check the temp after each run. Works nice to warm up the juice, but it will boil if you don't watch close as the volume is small.
