I think (for the moment) that I got mine working again like it did when I first used it.

So I rewicked w/ the same cotton I was using for the vivis (butcher's cotton twine or something), 32g kanthal 5 wraps, another cotton "flavor wick" across the top, and *excluded* the silicon cover. With the silicon cover on it was pinching the wicks and causing them to burn. Without the flavor wick, it was flooding.

I use 100% VG mixes if that matters.

Maybe in the next version the glass will be encased with more metal like the newer windowed vivis. I forget the exact name. SLV or something.

I was having a discussion with a family member today ,and they figured out a good mouth piece cover for the protank ,as they did not care to much for the metal taste. The little plastic tubing case that you would normally throw out ,that the vivi nova heads come manufactured in makes a pretty good little cover .I cut a hole in the end ,and duct taped the end ,no more metal taste .

Hi guys!
First of all THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! This thread helped me a lot as I was also very disappointed after getting the ProTank.
I got a Vivi Nova a few days ago and just had burnt taste from the beginning. Tried all different heads and tried on a low voltage, under 4V. Washed everything tried again, still the same. Gave up and got a Protank the next day. Compared to the CE4 clearomizers I was using before the vapour was cold and the Protank has a very airy draw. Also the taste of my awesome peach liquid did not show. So before throwing it out of the window together with the Nova I did some research and found this thread!!!!
It is day 3 now on the Protank so the juice had time to settle down and the wicks are soaked. Taste is better now, still not perfect. Cut out some plastic as shown in the video from the Vapelady, works just fine. Not so airy anymore and the taste comes out way better. No leaking problems so far and I think with some more experimenting it will get better. And I also took out the one loose wick, also helped. I cut out the plastic piece from the box the Protank comes in. The plastic piece where the beauty ring is in fits perfectly and it also has a little rim to the top that closes the airflow a bit more. Will go out and enjoy the sun now and vape some ml of the juice and see how it all works....
So far so good.
Cheers

The fact that you have to frankenstein the pro-tank at all is a huge turn-off for me.
I've had mine for a week and after trying different juices, different coils, plugging the holes and whatever else I did, I just don't like it.
It doesn't have the VTF that my Boge F-16's give me, and I over-nic way too often.
For me, I think it's just time to stick with carto tanks...
Just my opinion.

Had my protank for 5 weeks and have been really happy with it. To be honest i have become a bit of a fan boy what with the vapor production and ease of use. Now today on the outside of the tank, i saw a little bit of juice around the rims where the metal and glass meet. The top is now wonky and i can really see that it is going to fail soon. The glue is obviously dissolving and this is causing a slow leek. Really sad.

Wow forgot i had an account here after all this time. I just wanted to chime in on this if i could. I was using the vivi nova on an ego twist and was ok with it. Some burnt tasting, lots of gurgling but after almost a year with this new setup i finally had it down to a science. Then after alot of reading on here, i was going to get a provari and was talked out of it for the Vamo. Im glad i was (pricewise) and i freakin love the Vamo. The flavor got a little better since the voltage was more steady then the twist.

Then i got a KPT and holy crap!! What i was missing out on. The airyness didnt seem to bug me much, just took longer slower draws and man the vapor production rocked!! (50/50) Flavor was constant, no burnt taste, no gurgling. Day 4 came and when i jumped out of the truck, BAM onto the cement it went and snapped off the threads :( I had to go back to my vivi nova and im hating it!!! ordered 2 more KPT's that day and they should be here tomorrow, thank goodness!!! Also found DV had the bases in stock monday and i snagged 5 of them also. Seems the thin threads is the one downfall ive found on the KPT.

Hope this helps some.

I got my pro tank about a week ago and have been using it non-stop ever since. At first I was disappointed a bit. It was built really well but didn't beat my mini novas for flavor and throat hit. It was "ok" but muted. It did make lots of vapor, though.

I have since rebuilt the coil and now I see the light a bit more. As far as rebuilding, I find the pro tank easier than the mini nova and the parts of higher quality. The pro tank should last me many rebuilds where the mini nova bases tend to get loose and not fire after a few rebuilds. When the base does go bad, I can just get a new base. Cool!

With my rebuilt coil, the pro tank is an absolute beast. I made a 1.1ohm coil with 3m silica wick and it just rocks on my mechanical device. It beats my Cisco spec 510 lr 1.8 for vapor - but not for flavor. The pro tank is surely decent out of the box but it really starts to shine when you rebuild it.

One of mine did that last night, took it apart thinking the glue had failed but the glass was broken inside the bottom metal ring. Ordered another one tho, because I like them so much. Ordered a couple of T3S also, hoping for the same vape as the protank but better durablilty..

I fixed my airflow problem (too airy) with Nexcare flexible clear tape (I think it's a medical tape, and you can get it at Walgreens or any drug store. It's very stretchy and easy to cut and work with, and it's easily removed if you make a mistake). I cut a super thin piece (1 mm thick, and long enough to wrap around the holes) and used long needle nose jewelry tweezers to wrap it around the airholes, just above the threading. I did get a tiny bit of the tape edge on the end of the threads, but it doesn't affect how the protank threads into my devices; I've taken it on and off many times now with no problem.
Cut a very thin piece of tape, use the tweezers to put the tape in place around the airholes, and tamp it down. If the draw is too tight, use the tweezers to unwrap some of the tape from the airholes and cut some off (press the edge of the tape back down); continue until you get the perfect amount of airflow. I like this method better than the toothpick one. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get the toothpick piece out if I made the draw too tight.

I did the toothpick trick in one hole and it didn't do much. I have acquired a taste for the airy draw now.

PS The best cola liquid I have tried yet is the cola flavor from Backwoods Brew! Tastes just like coke, and I didn't need to steep.

You can cut a longer piece, and wrap it around the airholes, and use the tweezers to tamp it down. If the draw is too tight, unwrap some of the tape with the tweezers and cut some off; continue until you get the perfect amount of airflow. I like this method better than the toothpick one. I finally bought a protank today, so I am bouncing between a vivi nova and that.

Note that I have only been doing this since last Saturday.

I see a pretty good difference between the air flow and flavor.

I'm not sure which I like better...........

DECISIONS DECISIONS!!!!!!!........

It grows on you and before you know it you will not like the tighter draw.
