I got one before I got the protank. Same process as protank. I did a 3.75mm no flavor wicks 5 wrap got to 2.3 ohm. I like the protank and evod better but I didn't want to loose money on it.

I wrapped a coil on a 3/32 drill bit shank then folded a 2.5mm silica wick in half and pulled it thru the coil with a bead threader. So 5mm of wick. No leaking and wicks perfect. My coil is 32 kanthal with 2.2 ohms
And I don't use the o ring cap on the air tube. No problems vaping on zmax at 7 watts mean mode

LOL it's ugly as hell. We got it cheap, my son is autistic and makes a mess sometimes. So nothing nice right now heh.

Alrighty, 3mm silica arrived, so made my first 3mm coil with 32 gauge Kanthal D, clocking in at the usual 2.4-ish Ohm.
Tons of vapor and tons of flavor at 4 Volt, only used it for a few minutes so far though, so can't tell if it lasts longer than my usual 4x1mm coils, but it is a heck of a lot easier to work with 1 piece of 3 mm, compared to a double-doubled piece of 1 mm
Leaks, well again, can't tell yet.

Eagle if you go to ebay and type in Silica wick, it will show a guy I think is in GA. He is who I buy mine from. Fast service and shipping. Mr Wick is his name.
There is truly something satisfying about vaping your own juice on a coil you wound yourself. Thanks to everybody that has gone before me. I used some butcher twine as my wick (I did boil it first), 1.7 ohm coil. Pretty danged proud of myself. I love my Protank even more now.

Not all silica is created equal. I've tried silica from a few different vendors. The best has been from pbdragon. 40 cents a foot, 4 dollars shipping. I ordered 30 feet first order and then I ordered another 80 so I have a stockpile heh.
