Lol if I buy another subtank, I will gladly pay the extra two dollars to get it faster from a vendor in my country than wait two weeks plus to save two bucks. Well, I guess that's the price point for now. Think it'll go down much in a month? Seems like a lot of the other tanks haven't really gotten much cheaper.

Look what I found at hobby lobby lol. My wife thinks im weird. Hope to make some nice coils after watching that video. Still need thumb screw, wing nut, and washers.

Today was the 1st time that I used the RBA instead of the OCC and wow what a difference. I used the coil that came with the RBA and just wicked it with some japanese cotton and it is so much better than the OCC. The vape seems smoother and cooler and even the drip tip is not getting hot. Guess I need to pick up some 26 gauge kanthal. But really I was thinking that everyone was exaggerating about how great this tank is but now using it with the RBA I totally agree that it is the best tank,

I've had my Subtank Mini for almost a month, and I still absolutely LOVE it! I've re-built the coil more than a few times now using both 30g and 28g, and I am learning a lot along the way. Currently, I have about 8 turns of 28g Kanthal for 1.7 ohms, hitting it with 15w/5v on my trusty Eleaf iStick 20w. Using Mt Baker Vapor Hawk Sauce, max VG, 1.5mg of nic. It works AMAZING!

And even running 1.7 ohms, I can still manage to chuck clouds like this:

Well I guess I'll chime in here on my experience with the Subtank Mini. I picked up the ST a couple days ago and unlike the vast majority of folks here, I found it to be a dreadful vape for me. I washed it out and its now dried and I may pack it away.

I tried vaping it numerous times with the installed OCC. I'm a mouth-to-lung vaper only and had to use about a half an air hole to get the draw to my liking, and between 13-15 watts. For my style of vaping, the juice takes too long to start cooking and the vaper was weak in density and harsh on my throat. I've vaped the same juice in all my tanks for many months, and in the SB it had a bit of a raunchy taste. I did thoroughly wash the tank parts before first using, which I do with all my tanks, and carefully primed the coil prior to filling, but the vapor and flavour was nowhere near as good as any of my numerous other tanks.

I also have the Smok VCT with the X2 .4ohm dual coil and it vapes and tastes sooo much better. The Smok still takes as long to cook my juice but then the vapor comes through smooth and full, and is totally silent with no popping and easy on my throat. The ST pops loudly with every vape and is just not pleasant in any way. Maybe it was a duff coil - I don't know, but its weird that my experience is totally different than everybody else'.

I won't give up on it until I try the RBA or wrap a 32 awg at a midrange resitance, say a 1.5 - 2ohm; more suitable for MTL.

I just got mine and I'm already looking for 3 more :vapor:

I like a variety of juices, so I figure can can narrow it down to 2 similar juices per tank. (ie 1 for fruity, 1 for tobacco, 1 for desserts, one for cereal). I can use some of the alternate o-ring colors to differentiate.

Since I do like to keep an extra tank on me and swap throughout the day, any good ideas for a small carrying case? maybe plastic just big enough for an extra coil?

@ Mortis, sorry to hear that your are having such a bad experience with the Subtank. :( I was also a mouth-to-lung hitter, and soon learned that the Subtank Mini really shines with lung-hitting, so it took a bit for me to learn how to do it. I agree that it doesn't work too well with mouth-to-lung hitting.

I wrote earlier in this thead…

...pleased to see Kanger introduced the idea (by example) of proper circuit symmetry. Also that using cotton makes it easier for them and us as well to duplicate the result. But the winds provided are the basis for the diffuse result. It would seem the design is optimized for it as I've explained. They must believe the bulk of the market is clamoring for a dry, cloudy vape. For most of us, I would think, favor the flavor side of production even if only slightly more than vapor output. Seems they've been hanging out in vape shops a bit too much relying on owner feedback re dripper sales instead of surveying real vapers. Unfortunately too many are not real vapers but they place the orders at the end of the day. And we all so appreciatively love shiny.

The good thing is they included an abundance of airflow and with that a great versatility for rebuilding to make best advantage of both airflow and juice flow. It makes the Subtank one of the most outstanding devices I've seen.

Hang in there's a lot of density (and flavor) there to be had.

Good luck.

:)

Had mine for a little over week. In the moving process so the occ coils are all I'm using. Quick question I'm getting dry hits galore like every 5-7 hits on the .5 coil at 18 watts. It's a heavy vg blend that shines in the Atlantis. But this subtank man the dry hits are killing me. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Did it as well with the 1.2 occ. I hope the rba deck works better but it'll be a week or so til I can invest time in building.

On the rba deck what diameter coil is working well for you sub tankers.

Most common thing that's' happening with this very tight design is developing a bit too much vacuum pressure, particularly as the coils are breaking in or on refills. Try a little dry.puff into the tank with the air slot covered to see if this induces saturation.
Hope helpful.

Good luck O.

had mine for about a week as well- love the 1.2 OCC, but I vape 50/50- only issue I have is coil gunking, getting about 4 days max from each OCC before I toss them in the "dirty" pile..

built the RBA tonight with a 14g blunt needle, 30g Kanthal, spaced wraps to 1.3ohms

I really like the tank, but the RBA threading locks up, I bruised mine up a little with a small pliers tonight, it was locked up tight.
I can usually get both loose without much issue but it wasn't happening.
I want a more durable RBA, I bet someone with some skills could whip up a batch of tubes and bases.
I'd like to see thicker walls for the tube section with knurling on the base and tube.

I only mouth to lung (I use high PG, and lung hits are nasty!), and I find the subtank is fine for that! I think it just takes a bit of getting used to, perhaps?

Heard that G. My single disappointment is that the formidable RBA for the Subtank wasn't adapted to the Mini. Instead after PB's complaints about the screws for the ST's top cap, they redesigned and came up with this…

Kanger SUBTANK-PLUS clearomizer – KangerTech

So it looks like we're stuck with the flimsier RBA section, at least for the short term. A pity.

Good luck.

:)

p.s. Word to the wise, stock up on the Subtank/RBA while you can. Or, if so inclined, I'll gladly take donations.

SubTank Mini V2?

Yeah, I've had that same issue with the deck. I agree knurling on the tube for sure.
